Yes, I know it's best to get winter wheels/tires for the GT, but how many opted for UHP All Season instead?

With the realization that if snow is actually forecast I'd leave the GT at home, how many here kept the summer tires and went for dedicated set of winter wheels and tires as opposed to dumping the summer tires for a set of UHP all-seasons like the Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus in 255/40ZR19 on the stock wheels?

While I love the feel of summer rubber under the car, realistically UHP all-seasons have gotten pretty good.

A set of the Continentals would be $1100 or so compared to $3K+ for snows/wheels/TPMS sensors.

The Pirelli P ZERO AS PLUS 3 has the highest ratings on Tire Rack, but I've had some bad luck with Pirelli before.

The Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 would normally be my go-to, but it seems to not do as well as either the Pirelli or the Continental.

How cold does it get there?

I wouldn't be driving on lots of ice or temps below -15C on all seasons.

I just ordered viking contact 7's and putting them on the cheapest rims I could find.

Also, if better winters save you from one accident, or less stress while commuting, sounds like $3k well spent to me.

Also, mount/dismount every summer to go back to sticky tires so you can enjoy the car adds up, plus the risk of a rim getting scratched when the tires are getting changed over. Then the risk of cosmetic damage to a rim in winter.

It's Colorado, so winter temps range from 75ºF (seriously!) to -10ºF.

If the forecast is for snow, I would be driving something else as I also own an FJ Cruiser fitted with Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 SUV studded snows.

For the most part the all-seasons would be to ensure drivability if the weather changed unexpectedly or the temperature dropped below 40ºF at night when it wasn't forecast to.

If I do winter tires/wheels I will get Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 Studded snows since there's no point in not getting studs for Colorado if you're getting snows as black ice is the main hazard here when the snow melts during the day and refreezes at night.

What rims did you find? Since I will have the PP with Brembos and need a 19x9 wheel, the cheapest I've found so far are the Ford Performance wheels for $279 each.

FAST FC04, it's a 19x9.5 +35mm. The tire place that does a lot of mustangs say this was the rim to go with that fit my prereqs of cheap and available. $285 CAD/ea

When there's ruts here I'll drive the shitbaru or CR-V both with studded michelins.

So I have the UHP all season pirelli tires that are on PP GT wheels as my "winter tires" for my Dark Horse. I am however in Maryland where our winters are relatively mild and I don't drive my car once they start pretreating the roads and during snow events and I have a truck to drive during this time period. General cold weather driving (10-45 degrees, doesn't get much colder than that here) I have been impressed with the traction that these tires offer.

I ordered a 2026 GT with the PP and the first thing I am doing is replacing the rims with 20” and putting continental all seasons tires on them. Square setup so I can rotate tires.

I don’t plan to drive in the snow but it gets cold in NY and I don’t want to not use the car for half the year or deal with swapping between summer and winter tires. I also don’t plan to use the car on the track so this makes sense to me.

People on the internet have been questioning the need for the PP in my case but I simply like the extras that come with it.

I had the dealer put michilin pilot sport all season 4 tires on my dh before I picked it up. I had to drive it home for house through the rain and snow, it performed very well. Since then I dont shy away from driving my DH in heavy rain the all season tires mixed with wet/snow mode work very well.

All-seasons don't compete with snows when you're actually using them in snow.

I had to get tires this summer when I picked up a nail in the sidewall on the Friday before July 4. Of course all they had in stock was all season tires and not summer tires. I ended up with the Michelin Pilot Sport all season - and DiscountTire said I had 30 days to try them out.

I hated them. On the highway the car wandered and steering felt vague. It was squirrely in the lane on the highway. On the city streets they were fine as long as I was under 50 mph, but anything over that they weren't comfortable to me.

My car is a 2024 GT with performance package and magneride.

Before the 30 day trial was up I ordered a set of Contental summer tires.

I have a set of wheels and snow tires and swap them in the fall and spring.

I have no idea how they compare on Tire Rack, but I think, 16 months on, that they perform well. I have done some very spirited driving, both fast and aggressive. I drive my car all year (Easton, PA), just not in the wet. Not that I don't think the tires can't handle it, but I am adverse to getting my car wet. In the winter, I will be cautious until I think the tires are warmed up, just check the TPMS display, but I haven't had any trouble with the cold. I drove tonight, and the temperatures were between 36 and 38℉. Good luck with your decision! Glenn

I’m in Chicago burbs and drive year round when I want to, so not when the streets are messy. Have been doing this my last 3 coyote’s . I find dedicated all-seasons for November-April to be perfect if you still want the car to handle well.
Then back to Summer tires for the other 6mos.
This time I tried 20” fatty DWS’s

Before we picked up our '25' GT this spring , we had a '16' EB for nearly 10 years and drove it all year long in NEOH.
The first thing we did was get a spare set of 18" rims and put Blizzak WS80 tires on them and used them Dec-March during the winters that followed. No traction issues at all and they wore like iron.
When the OEM A/S tires got loud, we put on a set of Mich/S 4 tires and after a year of doing takeoff in winter, ran them all year round. They weren't as good as the Blizaks in snow, but they were good enough to get around in light snow and the temps were below freezing.
After getting the S650 GT, I wondered if the old rims/snow tire setup would work on the new car and the good news was it did.. Had the car out in the colder temps and light snow this week and it drove very well in normal drive mode, even with the Bizzaks at 10 years old and 7/32 tread depth.

Long term, I want to get away from 2 sets of rims for the car and will likely move to the DWS06 as an all year solution based on comments here and from the TR site. I really liked the Michelin A/S 4--firmed up the ride ride and handling on our base car, bur were expensive and got loud after 20k miles.

I ran Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06 Pluses on my Focus RS (AWD) for the 3 years I owned it. Dry, wet, slush, snow (up to 6-7 ins)........................they never let me down. Quite a few members of our RS Forum swear by Michelin or Pirelli ASs. Best of luck with what ever you get!

PS: Get on the Tire Rack and use their tire comparison tool and user ratings. Very handy and you don;t have to buy from them if you find a better price elsewhere.
