What does priority code actually mean?

Does it just mean how much volume your dealership does, and gets priority? Or something else?

Does a lower priority mean earlier build, usually?

Retail orders will generally be given a code from 10-19, store inventory cars will be given a 20-89 number. Regional managers have the ability to give orders numbers 1-9.

Regular retail orders start at 19, meaning they have priority over any dealer stock order. If you are lucky enough to get closer to a 10, it will be pulled before other orders, as long as the assembly line doesnt have any of the options on hold. You dont get a 1-9 generally unless it is a special circumstance, like they messed up your first order, or you have been waiting years, or if you happen to know someone high up.

I order today at a large dealership in St.Louis that has been there over 100 years. They had sold like 10 Broncos but I was the only Mustang order today. They gave me priority code 19 whatever that means. Does anyone know if priority codes change if you amend your order. Couldn't really see what any of the wheels look like on anything they had on the computer so I will probably have to amend my order at some point.

Sweet. Priority code 10 for me. I was first on reserve list at my dealer. Reserved the night of the reveal.

It’s my understanding that the priority is only relative to your dealer. Dealers can set a custom order between 10 and 19 (or something like that). So if your dealer has several orders and yours was 10 and mine was 19, Ford would try to build yours first all other things being equal.

For a given production schedule your dealer must have allocations available. Also, parts availability at the factory (called build constraints) takes priority over everything. No availability of a particular option on your order means you get pushed back.

Priority below 10 can be set by Ford corporate for various reasons. And the factory would try extra hard to get your car built.

This applies to pretty much all Ford vehicles not just mustangs

The priority code range for retail factory orders is 10-19. Orders submitted to the USOB (Unscheduled Order Bank) via the WBDO (Web Based Dealer Ordering) system default to priority code 19 requiring Dealer's to manually assign a lower priority code if desired. The best Dealer assigned priority code is 10. Priority codes and the orders in the USOB are exclusive to each dealership. The priority code is important if the Dealer has multiple, unscheduled retail factory orders in their USOB as the scheduling system will review the order with the lowest priority code first. When there are multiple, unscheduled orders with the same priority code, the system treats those orders equally and will consider the original order date but very often, schedule the order that meets applicable commodity requirements the easiest. Many dealerships are poor at managing their USOB and priority codes, so knowing your priority code and how many orders are ahead of you can be important.

The scheduling process is a bit complex including factors such as the original order date, priority code, allocation, microchip shortages, commodity and plant constraints, supplier issues, etc. all of which can delay scheduling. In particular, your Dealer should submit your signed Buyer's Order and Driver's License to the COVP (Customer Order Verification Program). COVP verified orders qualify for incremental allocation and priority scheduling.

I ordered my GT Premium on February 19, 2024.
The dealer gave me a priority code of 08?
I don’t understand any of this.
