This photo was taken awhile back my car has over 3k miles now I’m just using it for context. I have scoured what I believe to be everywhere for info on what ranges are okay to get into while the car is warming up. I don’t really get on my car until the oil temp is 190 and trans temp is 170 which for me is basically going over 4k. Is this to conservative? I had a 131 trans temp on the highway today and I went to just under 4k rpms accidentally and quickly shifted to bring it back down so it sparked a thought with me as to what is considered okay while the car is warming up? It would be good if there was some sort of established baseline to follow. Thanks everyone.

I'm gentle with the car until the engine reaches 185 F / 85 C for a few minutes. I have a MT, but the following threads can give insight as to what people are seeing once their AT cars are warmed up.

Thank you. I was referring to warming up stages. What’s the max one should be doing until the car has fully warmed up. For instance me going to about 4k rpms then shifting while the trans temp was at 131.

Check.

I make shifts "around" 3-4K until fully warmed-up. At speed, engine RPMs will be a bit lower. To compliment that, any accelerations, decelerations, upshifts or downshifts are smooth and a modest pace.

My drive for work is almost immediately highway so I have gotten in the habit of staying under 4k until I see 190 oil temp 170 trans temp with my A10. I think it’s a good philosophy to follow. Just wish there was something put out from Ford to support this.

I can appreciate the concern. Sometimes, when merging into city traffic, I gotta go with the flow, which requires riding harder than I'd like until warmed up.

It's something I'd like to avoid if I can. I'm not really bothered by it. It's just...IDK.

Thankfully for us these cars are quick it doesn’t take much throttle to get it up to speed.

Grok AI suggests that the radiator will be larger with the PP, and would be tuned to handle cooling better. Maybe have the thermostat cut on more or earlier and for longer too is a guess of mine as well.

I have mycolor set to purple and I noticed that the engine temperature guage turns from light blue to purple once it's past the quarter mark. I assume that's when it's okay to go past 4k.

I’m sure there are certain ranges floating somewhere I just haven’t found them

First 5-10 minutes no more the 1/3 of max rpm= less the 2500 rpm
Next 10 to 15 minutes no more than half max rpm =around 3750.rpm + or -

Wouldn’t work for me highway is 3 minutes from my home and I drive daily for work currently. Thank you though. I believe this is a topic that is subjective. There are probably many right answers.

The A10 is smart and can take care of itself, if its cold itll handle shifting a lot more sluggishly until it comes up to temp. for mine its usually 1-2 minutes after i start driving, but i let the car idle for 5-10 minutes depending on temps outside. just dont be flooring it when the gauge is still in the blue.

Not sure if you are aware but it’s sound advice to not cold start and just let the car sit. Driving the car gently is 1 million times better for warming up and getting things going. A simple start wait for the initial idle to drop is sufficient. Long drawn out idles don’t assist the car at all

yeah, its not like im waking up and starting my car, save for when its below 0, my morning routine is dress, start the car, take a piss, walk out. usually takes 5ish minutes due to how far the garage is from my apartment
