Dealer did 1st oil change at 3500 miles. Used semi-synthetic ford oil. So far, no ticking

@FrankAR15 ...... just changed the oil at 3000 miles on my 2024 Mustang GT. I used Motorcraft FULL synthetic 5W-30 and the Motorcraft oil filter. I had the tech prefill the oil filter with oil to soak the filter's filter media then add some more oil before installing it. I am now a 4000 miles with no "tic". Sadly I do have the R1080 auto transmission whine, so you win some you lose some!
That sucks. The whine is 10x worse than the tic imo. I wont buy another auto until thats fixed. Manual seems to happen less or not at all.

@Hawkeye ..... doesn't happen at all with the manual, at least not for the same reason. It is the straight cut gears for the auto transmission's fluid pump that make the noise. It is a bit annoying at low speeds where there is a wall like in a garage or a drive through and the sound reverberates but I don't hear it above 20 mph and I have a convertible. The boss (aka the wife) says it sounds a bit like a supercharger. I'll take that. A friend has one with the tic and that makes me nuts because it is erratic. LOL.

No tick here, just some wine.....whine. I don't mind it, hasn't got worse. The auto has got better, in fact.

Yep thats it. They all do it to varying degrees. Ive been using a half bottle of Ceratec after my oil changes in my last two Mustangs. It usually goes away immediately.

You will be waiting a looooong time then. The 10R80 has always done it since it was first made 10 years ago so clearly it isn't going to change.

If Ford doesn't know why it happens, then they don't know if it's harmful... common sense.

Doubt it'd be piston slap as that'd quiet down as the engine warms.
Direct Injections engines quite the tick-tick beasts anyway... but odd its intermittent and some say, helped with oil additives.

Ford DO know what the noise is and the TSB clearly says it is not a problem and is a normal feature for the engine. Just because they haven't made the details public doesn't mean they don't know

The problem is people on the internet conflate the typewriter/BBQ tick with injector tick. They are two totally different things.

All generations of the Coyote have had it to some degree. That goes all the way back to 2011. To date, im not aware of a single failure related to this. If fact, Coyotes seem to have a pretty solid reputation for reliability overall. If this were a real mechanical issue, we would have found out about it a long time ago.

Both my S550 and S650 have/had the tick. Plenty of miles on the S550 without any negative effects.

Oh I know. But there are still folks who think it's a big mystery like Bigfoot or Amelia Earhart.
