I hit one of those big speed bumps doing 25mph and heard a loud clunk from front end. I don’t see any damage in shocks, struts, sway bar etc, but not an mechanic, and car drives fine. Yall think I’m good?

Could have bottomed out... I had the same thing happen the other day, though it was overnight road construction that left a bad bump on my normal route to work. Loud clunk but no damage apparent and everything seems fine. I was worried it could have damaged a wheel, I have 20", so low profile tires. I would say if you feel confident enough to look things over and all appears well, you are probably fine. If you are worried, you could have a shop check it.

Thanks for replying Sofa King and sharing your story, glad everything seems fine! Yah the speed limit was 25mph and had like 5 big humps, but one of hump's the car did not like. I will tell the techs at ford when I take it in for that bcm recall in a couple weeks. I asked AI, and it said only take the humps at 5-10 mph lol.

I have a road nearby where they have some big speedbumps... anything under 25 (speed limit 25) and it is smooth and no bother... anything over 25 and it is a bucking bronco!

Obviously, the shorter the tire aspect ratio, the harder the 'thump'. That's one advantage of longer aspect ratios.

I noticed the same thing the other day, and had my friend go over the bump while I watched the underside of the car. Saw a weird bolt sitting lower than the rest of the car from the driver side just behind the cat. Im positive that’s what made the clunk at least for me. I was wondering if you see the same thing under your car? I looked up underside pictures of the s650 and they all seem to have this bolt, not sure if mine is abnormally long or out of place though.

That looks like a exhaust clamp bolt. Maybe it can be repositioned a bit? Then it wouldn't stick out to much? Not sure if their all like that though. I mean if it's an issue.

Yeah, I was planning on just asking ford on Monday to see if they could just rotate the clamp. I honestly just wanted to know if a lot of others looked like this or mine was just done weird 🤷‍♂️. If they all are done like this it’s a pretty weird design choice. Does yours look like this underneath?

my car made a loud clunk just today coming from the area of the rear driver wheel well. I was on a smooth road, no bumps, steady speed, didn't run over anything, nothing in trunk. 🤔

Suspension hitting the bump stops is a fairly harsh experience. Normally it doesn't cause damage.
