Mexico term has been around for years. I know of a few forums from back in the day. Not that I am older than dirt but have followed Mustangs for years.

My current car, one I hope to sell in the next few weeks, is a BMW 440 convertible. Back in 2017 when I bought it BMW still had a program for US buyers to take delivery in Germany, drive around a few days or weeks, and then let them ship to your US dealer. My build date was a few weeks before a planned business trip elsewhere I Europe so I flew to Munich a few days early and toured Southern Germany.

On a trip to the Porsche Museum I found myself on a stretch of Autobahn with unlimited speed. Like a 2024 GT, it is limited to 155if you pick the right tire option and I managed to get to about 149 before ...well, before I got scared.

I can't imagine ever seeing really high speeds here in the US but maybe there are places I don't know of where its possible or even legal?. Of course we'll should obey all traffic laws,, but it's a bit sad knowing it's there and I'll never get anywhere near it. I think some stretches of Texas are 85...but Michigan drivers do that all day long where the limit is 70.
PARTS of .Michigan are 70, but no one goes that slow. Even Chevy cruises do 75

I first heard it watching YouTube videos.
There's tons of motorcycling videos filmed in Los Angeles that claim to be "shot in Mexico".

It's one of those old forum things like saying "someone who isn't me" when telling a story.

The Seney Stretch in Michigan is the longest curveless section of highway in the state, and one of the longest straight stretches of curveless highway east of the Mississippi.
Just out of curiosity , HOW LONG IS IT ? IN MILES NOT KILOMETERS..junqdawg

Kilometers divided by 1.61 gives you miles.
Not toooo scientific of a challenge

I've wondered what the unretricted top end of our cars is. I'd guess 270-275 Kmh.
One thing I've noticed in vids of guys reviewing fast cars on the Autobahn is the brilliant awareness and anticipation the top ones have. I saw one back off from 300 kmh because about 400 - 500 metres ahead were two cars in the right lane and he thought the rear one was close enough to the front car to pull out and pass.
If everyone thought like that we'd kill a hell of a lot less people on the roads.

My car's top speed is 155 thanks to Ford. It "might" have been to 150 which is fast enough for "grocery getting" and just normal daily driving...... :)

"thanks to Ford."

Is it electronically limited?

Are all of the GT models and the Dark Horse limited? Basic internet answer is the Dark Horse (manual only) top speed is 168 mph. I cannot find anything on the automatic.

No, I do not want to find out on the public roads, but I am still curious as to what the answer is, useless statistic or not.
