On the freeway after work and cought a rock the size of a golfball on the center of my hood. Now im looking at removal of the PPF, dent repair, possibility chip repair, and PPF replication. Oh and it bounced into the windshield and chipped it too.

The only good news is my PPF guy thinks the film held up and the paint is OK. He says the center chip areas are the bottom adhisive layer of the PPF. Im hopeing at worst a buff to the clear is all it will need.

The joys of living in Arizona and constant road construction. 😫🤬

Im sure the peanut gallery will question my evasive driving skill or someother nonsense. So here is a dash cam still photo. I had to slow it down to .25 just to see it. Video shows it came out between the back of his cab and trailer as I was passing. There was less than .5 seconds from it popping up to impact. But thanks to my dash cam I have a video proof and a license plate for a claim against the trucking company.

Hope for the best in getting this fixed. That rock probably was on the roof of his cab from when he loaded. I dread those belly dumpers like the plague. I will move over 3 lanes when possible. Keep us posted on how it works out.

Dents and chips are unavoidable. One of the reasons I got a white car...I always have a touch up paint int he glovebox for situation like this...

Thanks. Unfortunately we dont have the luxury of staying away from them during this freeway widning project and in rush hour traffic. They're all over the place and even on surface streets. There's just too much construction in my area right now. I try to pass rather than stay behind them, but it is what it is. Rocks chips and cracked windshields are unfortunately very common in Phoenix no matter how careful you are. Hopefully they will reimburse me.

Its the most helpless feeling. I saw it and had zero time to react. There where lots of four letter words.

Sorry for your pain....I had it happen myself and once had an acorn bomb my hood that cost me 150 bucks but the paint less dent guy was magical...Even an acorn if its big enough and you are going fast enough leaves a mark...So rocks are way worse...and no way to avoid.

Good luck getting whole....That might fall under comprehensive coverage..

They are unavoidable. I won't challenge your driving but I will say recently when I am forced to drive behind a debris dumping vehicle I just say f*** it and start driving really slow so much that people behind me want to roast me. I just don't care. You are right. They are everywhere so I just slow down and wait while traffic builds behind me. But you cannot avoid everything, no way.
