CJ Pony Parts put an S650 base, an S650 premium, and a 2015 S550 base on certified scales and reported the weights. The S650 base was the lightest car of the bunch at 3740 lbs, and the S560 premium and 2015 S550 base weighed the same at 3780 lbs.

Something’s amiss. Several sources, including Ford, published the S650 as heavier than the S550. Ford’s own website says the base S650 GT is 3,830 lbs, and claims around 3,710 or so for the base S550 GT. Also, both Car and Driver and Motortrend show 150+ lbs weight gain over similar trims. Even the S650 Ecoboost weighed 3,812 lbs!!

Car companies are notoriously inconsistent with how they report curb weight. I recall reading the measured weight for a recent Maserati was several hundred pounds above the actual listed weight. I do appreciate the effort in this video and it's nice to know the s650 base is not 200lbs heavier.

With that said, the video is pretty unscientific and doesn't really clarify a whole lot. They made no effort to equalize fuel levels, and one of the cars has a spare tire in the trunk while the others do not. Also the premium appears to be the only one of the three with its oem wheels.
