But on my base GT, there is now a gas tax, which was not on the base GT before. I will have to pay $1,000 more, which is a change.
Right. I would’ve ordered my car with the A10 if I had known this but now it’s too late

I can’t see how it would be price protected because it’s a tax & not a ‘price increase’
That’s what I’m guessing as well. So in the case of a non-refundable deposit on an order, it would seem wrong for it to be non-refundable but subject to all “price” increases.

I plan to call my salesman tomorrow. I’m not happy I’m now paying a premium to get a not so premium MT-82 transmission. I would have to place a new order to get A10 & would go to the back of the line 🤬

I’m going to make a call in to my dealer as well to see what my options are.

Based on the assumption that the gas tax is the reason for the increase, is it safe to say there will be no price protection? As this is a gas tax increase and not a typical price increase?
It's not even a gas tax "increase."

You were already liable for the $1K tax with the S650 GT. Ford, per typical of its incompetence, simply failed to advertise it (or rather bake it into their price).

why do they charge a gas guzzler fee? when if they actually use more gas, then the gov gets more taxes from the fuel it burns at the pump? double dipping?
Revenue from the fuel tax has actually been declining over the year, and now the government believes there's more money to be made by forcing everyone to utilize alternative forms of transportation besides gas-powered vehicles. So to discentivize people from buying gas-powered vehicles, the government will tax it to the point that people decide they're no longer worth buying.

I don’t disagree with your statement however I signed a purchase agreement with the understanding I was paying the amount on the agreement. I would’ve optioned the car differently had I known about an additional $1000 charge. I can’t change my build as I have a VIN already. Ford incompetence at its finest

Ultimately, it's going to boil down to dealer discretion as far as how they handle this.

My suspicion though is that most of them will not eat up the $1K cost, and it is the buyer that is typically responsible for paying this tax anyway

Question. So does your order sheet show the GG tax?

My order sheet does not show the gas guzzler tax. And the initial ford order guide shows the base GT does not qualify for the gas guzzler tax.

You know the order guides always have mistakes. This could be one of them. Or the EPA handed down it’s ruling on the GT after the March order guide came out. Ford then had to add it. If this is the case then in actuality it is a price increase. But as it is a tax I doubt Ford is going to offer price protection. Only your dealer can tell you this. Good luck🤞🏻

Exactly. My build will now be $1,000 more than my order sheet and the price I signed with the dealer. I also have a $1,000 non-refundable down payment, so It’ll be interesting to see how they respond.
