Ford say 18k or 2 years on most of their cars now, used to be 12.5k or 12 months. I have driven plenty of cars with those oil change intervals with no problems whatsoever at high mileages (100k plus)
You lost me here. What are you saying is 18k or 2 years?

That's the list of things that affect the oil life indicator, there's other factors that the system isn't intelligent enough to incorporate, for example haboobs.

I've rented 3 Peugeots now from Eurolease. They are new cars rented on some form of tax break for Peugeot, they have a first service at 15000km's. I did 10,000 in 2 of them, 3500 in the third.
Glad they weren't mine.
I do low kms now that I'm old, so I change oil yearly. But I'd change the oil at 10,000 if I did more, and I changed my bikes oil at 6000kms because oil gets a tougher life in most bikes.

Correct. I didn't claim it did.

......and the hardest thing on any engine is a short drive. You live in the south and drive short distances ..... geez, change it a lot! :-) The water vapor and acids never get burnt off they just keep polluting the oil. There is NO rule for oil changes. As many have said on this great forum, owner driving styles, distances and environmental conditions are waaaay too varied. It's up to all of us to factor what we think is needed. Oil changes are super owner specific. No matter what I'd never exceed 5K miles. Oil changes are the cheapest preventative you will ever get for the Coyote. I you Coyote the recipient of harsh environmental driving conditions (hot weather, dust, short drives) or if you "wring it out" a lot ..... no problem IF you use a FULL synthetic and change it frequently. Just for the sake of it I'll say this. Family owned a lot of marine race engines. We had automatic oil change systems. These engines run WOT (wide open throttle) bouncing off their rev limiters. After a Saturday of racing up and down the river or lake we'd change the oil before it was beers and campfire.....that's after one day. As most forum members have said in their own words - where you are (live/play) and what you do determines how you should protect your engine, not some generic chart. My 2 cents.
