Ok I know that Forscan is basically a product that allows a user to go in and change lines of code that configure the car.

1) where does one get the software

2) cost?

3) adapters to go from PC to OBD2 port ?

4) if the software is licensed to they limit it to one car (locked by VIN) or can you use it on multiple vehicles

5) how do you know what line of code is for what function and what are the options for that line of code?

Anything you want to tell me helps, I am going to start reading this sub forum to get some sort of basic knowledge.

The reason I ask all this is because it has been a topic of discussion at the shop recently and we are interested in learning more about it

To be blunt i am an idiot too 😆🤫. Forscan is a program that let's you access a vehicles computer "Ford" in this case and adjust a plethora of parameters that are not accessible otherwise. Im sure alot smarter folks will chime in and explain much better than i can.

Also goto
Forscan.org site
OBDLinkMx+ is the one I use but there are other options.
Free 2 months trial "repeatable" or Cost 12 bucks a year i think. Most dont need to buy it. Anyway goto the site it has probably everything that one might want to know in the documentation tab and also a support forum.
Cheers🍻

  1. Where does one get the software?
  2. Cost
    • There is a free 2 month trial that you can redo as many times as you want (you must email them)
    • Or you can purchase a 1 year license for $20
  3. Adaptor to go from PC to OBD?
  4. Is the software limited to one vehicle or can you use it on multiple vehicles?
    • The software is NOT limited to one vehicle. It can be used on as many vehicles as you want.
    • The license however is only good for one PC. If you want to install on a different PC/Laptop with your existing key, you need to deactivate the key on the first PC, then install and activate on the 2nd PC
  5. How do you know what line of code is for what function and what are the options for that line of code?

As @D/\rK•650 mentioned, there is documentation and a forum on the Forscan website. Additionally, you can find tons of videos on YouTube that can help speed up the leaning curve associated with using the program.

**Warning** Idiots shouldnt be using forscan for anything.
Not understanding how it works and being an idiot are two completely different things.

BASIC enable/disable functions in the easy mode arent rocket science once you do some research and watch some videos.

I really wonder how you grew up and who taught you how to communicate with others. Are you reflecting on how others treated you in your childhood?

Can you also try to not be a dickhead for once? You act like the all knowledgeble one who knows everything, but you really have to tone down a bit since you made many false claims yourself and really had difficulties in acknowleding your own mistakes.

Really tired of people who think they can uplift themselves by putting others down.

In most basic terms: an aftermarket third party ‘hacking’ utility (ymmv).

1: download via forscan.org

2: free (when not including the required supporting separate pieces of hardware - odbc adapter and pc)

3: varies depending upon model year

4: not vin restricted

5: spreadsheet of cheat codes (iykwim)

You figured right lol. That guy has a hard on for me since the lank centering thread and man did it pump him up like he’s a walking god or something. I have him blocked now so I don’t have to read his mess anymore. It’s been nice. But do be careful with forscan. It’s not hard to actually brick any module of the car and earn yourself a tow ride to the dealer.

I knew it was a joke 😂

And that is 100% true. My only experiences was with COBB access ports which are essentially a performance focused map flasher and monitoring tool, basically foolproof.

A while ago, Cobb did make Access Tuner Race for people in @ZXMustang's line of work. This was a comprehensive ECU tuning app. Ecu flash and ROM raider were also very popular open source applications.

Forscan is basically the equivalent of ROM raider for Ford. Nice because it's not locked to one vehicle and is extremely affordable.

I'm still too new getting back into Ford, but I'm sure I'll roll up my sleeves and start playing with it at some point. The forscan site does have a plethora of information, and the spreadsheet created here is an absolute must-have.

You nailed it! If so, reading threads and a lot of research will help your journey. It took about a month for me to understand modules and hex values via forscan with the 2 month and the year subscription that lets you do more.

Agree. The low subscription price is well worth the cost of admission, and it supports a great cause.
