Always had Camaros and Corvettes, never had an Overflow Oil Can, so I understand the function but would like to know is this a necessary device for just normal weekend driving? Or is this more of a device needed for racing your car (I can understand why). If it is necessary why does not Ford provide this in the design of the motor? Just would like to understand, thank you.

anything you do to keep oil from getting on the back of the intake valves is good

You could put a catch can on what we call the "dirty" side, which is the passenger side

It is not required on most NA cars, but on anything with forced induction you definitely want one or two

Depends on how you drive. Aggressive manuals may benefit more than lazy automatics. (Before anyone gets offended it’s a reference of driving style not person characteristic). Not mustang nor ford unique.

Had one on the dirty side on my NA ‘19 and it would collect oil, I would empty every oil change.. never measured how much.. on my 24 with the whipple have J&L on both.. dirty side has some every 3k… clean side dry.. I will also add I had a Ford Racing on the ‘19 .. too me they are over priced the J&L are cheaper and do what they are intended to do.

Yes, forced induction with a 12:1 engine does create blow by. The vapor separating catch cans definitely assist in stopping oil from building up in your intake system.

5.0 has Direct Injection AND Port injection. Port Inj is supposed to keep valve stems clean....right?

Yes it does stay much cleaner than without. In high stress situations like racing or high RPM conditions it's recommended. The manual has a recommendation for it.

If your car is N/A and you're not taking it to the track every weekend, using Lucas/Sea Foam/Berryman at every oil change (I do every 5000 miles) should be all you need. That's all I did with my previous 3 mustangs.

In the oil or gas tank? Not going to do anything for DI carbon buildup either way.

Agreed. The benefit would come from the PI. Crankcase and gas tank are not the only delivery methods for some of these products.

Personal preference. If getting a catch can makes you feel better about life, get one. But your daily driver grocery getter with regular maintenance isn't going to explode if you don't.
