So I have a little bit of an interesting question…

I had a 2020 EcoBoost so there wasn’t an oil pressure gauge that I can remember.

I am driving a GT 5.0 premium

I just changed the oil in the car (5w-30) and used a Ford Motor Craft Filter (FL-500S). I noticed the my oil pressure is showing high.

For Example: Idle seems normal at 30psi

I get to around 4500rpm and the psi is touching 90-100psi.

anyone have any input on this?

I am seeing the same numbers with my Dark Horse. I figure Ford decided low pressure at an idle was more fuel efficient and high pressure was needed to float the bearings at high RPMs.

I have a Gen 3 5.0 with an M6.

Cold start oil pressure pegs the gauge. Warm idle is about 20 psi. Once at operating temps, pressure increases with RPM. Seeing the gauge move past at least 60+ psi with every shift is normal for me.

How does the oil sump work on the Dark Horse? At what sustained lateral G force is it able to maintain oil pressure (indefinitely)?

I ask because I know BMW states that the wet sump oil system with 2 pickup tubes can sustain normal oil pressure indefinitely at 1.3g.

What oil pressure are you guys running at like a stop light when fully warmed up? I’ve seen mine at like 14 psi isn’t that to low ?

@SWPHX for a reference point I have the same readings on both of my Gen 2 5.0 manual as Skye with the Gen 3. Looks like everything should be normal.

No dry sump. The DH 5.0 is the same as the GT except for different conrods and balanced crank.

Warmed up on break in oil and I’m seeing 21-23 psi

I am not so sure about that. They introduced a supercharger that will get 700 horse power out of a GT engine without touching the bottom end. They said that the reason they beefed up the Dark horse engine was because it had bendy rods at 500 horse power. I don't think we know the full truth about the GT engine.

I thought it was beefed up to handle more abuse on the track... There's no way they'd worry about the rods and such for a difference of 14 HP unless they upgraded both engines.

I am seeing the same thing. 14 psi at idle after complete warm up and a little spirited driving. Was curious what others are seeing,

I'm running about 29-30 at idle. Like others, mine flirts with 100 under load.
