I did something like this before, with a 6G, GT350 and 5.0, Gen 3.

But I'm not sure anyone has baselined a S650, Gen 4 yet.

There are a lot of variables:

- Outside, ambient temp
- Sitting at idle, stop-and-go traffic, highway, at the track
- Model (GT or DH and associated packages)

But this thread could be a start. Those with a 5.0, Gen4, could provide their temps and conditions, to include oil, coolant, axle, trans, etc.

- Model type and unique package (GT or DH. PP, HP or not)
- Outside, ambient Temp
- Intake Air Temp
- Driving Condition (street, track, highway)
- Oil Temp
- Coolant/Cylinder head Temp
- Axle Temp
- Transmission Temp (include type, M6 or 10R80)
- Any additional variables

Gonna depend on the spec (base/ premium, PP, Dark Horse) on whether it has an oil cooler or not.

Reading the GT350 oil temp thread, that coincides with what I have read about engine oil temps in general... That the max they tend to reach is about 260F under heavy loads. But 220-230F is more inline with "normal" conditions. This assumes the OEM designed the heat rejection correctly with the right sized radiator/exchangers.

I questioned how much one of those OEM water to oil exchangers would reduce the engine oil temperatures, specifically on my 2.7 EcoBoost (Ford did not include one on the Fusion/Edge with 2..7 EcoBoost and only included them with 3.0's and truck 2.7's). The only official Ford info I could find is that their PTU oil-to-water exchangers on the Taurus SHO/Interceptors reduced temperatures by 16%, and keep in mind the PTU isn't an engine it just kind of spins like an open differential - but a design flaw causes it to overheat.

Ford also uses water-to-oil exchangers on the transmissions like the 6F55 and 10R80, but the factory service manual called this "cooler" a transmission oil warmer on my 6F55. The air-to-oil exchanger under the foglight was referenced as a cooler, as there is a valve that controls the flow of the ATF to help warm up the ATF using engine coolant, and then goes to the air exchanger and/or coolant to regulate/cool the ATF.

As a side note, has anyone installed an aftermarket or Ford oil cooler on s650 GT that didn't come with a factory one?

Stock GT A10, after a short spirited ride, idle, 75° outside.... I think my oil temp and A10 oil temp might be tad high?.... She seems to run hot, Parked in the garage, hour later pop the hood, everything is still hot to the touch.

5.0 performance pack with everything on it - highest I have seen is 202. Normally, I hover around 198 and that is when taking off hard every chance I get. I googled safe oil temperature a couple of weeks ago and found answers ranging from 225 - 260 to be safe.

@JAM486HP perhaps you aren't getting enough airflow while idling in the garage?

The screenshot was taken outside just before I garaged it. I shut it off, an hour later in the garage to check oil level, many components still hot to the touch. The garage is well ventilated and it's only 75 today. I even checked for any obstructions. Funny thing I was considering a K&N, though yesterdays post with dyno results wee not impressive.

PP here in AZ with ambient at 100° plus having oil temp right at 200° with 75-85 mph A/C on with steep mountain terrain. We will see when we get into the mid teen temps soon. This car and transmission have been rock solid.

DH in AZ, i normally see oil temps around 200-215F. if i put it in M and hold the gears, i can get it to 235 or 240, but the vehicle idles higher at a stop when the oil is at 240F or higher

if those are the idle temps, then that is alarming. those temps are more along the lines of "i just got home from work and had fun in M mode", especially the transmission and engine oil temps

Apologies, I clarified my post, I did take it for a 10 minute ride, came home and sat idle when I took the screenshot

This was back in late April. Hope to go out for drive later this week and see what the temps look like when it’s around 110.
