It is the handbrake lever included with the PP cars, when set to "drift mode"... It is intended for drifting (what else?). And of course it is not fast for a road course... but drifting isn't about lap times... it's about showing off!
Thank you for that, I should have figured that out.

When I ice raced front wheel drive cars were very quick but needed some tactics.

We used the handbrake to set the car up for corners. A quick pull up on the handbrake to kick the ass end out and then get back on the gas to carry the drift through the corner.
Great fun!

The E-Brake activates for about half a second when you engage it at speed,

Does take some focus to slow it down from 75, but with engine braking and modulating the e-brake it'll stop, I've tested it just to ensure I can stop the car in that event ....

.
Nice to know... is that with the toggle switch or the full brake lever handle?

WTF is a drift stick? And what is it intended for?
In my world of road courses, drifting is not fast, it just destroys tires and produces slow lap times.
A drift stick is a stick to drift with.
What has that to do with fast or slow?

The snow mode is to drive in the snow.
It's also not a mode to drive fast with.

Not everything on the Mustang is created to be fast.

I only got it because it came as part of the performance pack. If it was a standalone option I wouldn't have got it as in all reality it's more of an aesthetic thing to have a "handbrake lever" sitting next to my manual transmission gearshift, even though the lever is really just a glorified on off button for the same electric brake.

If you need a handbrake lever to initiate a drift in a 500hp RWD car you honestly have rocks between your ears anyways. Leave the e-brake skids to the Honda and other FWD guys.

My one beef with them has no relation to their ability to cause the car to drift. Rather if you got into a situation where the brake system failed completely, you could use the parking (drift) brake (once known as an emergency brake) to stop the vehicle. The electronic one is disabled after about 7 MPH, and can't be modulated in any case!

While I'm on rare occurrences, the auto locking feature has a hidden bane, and here is the scenario. Your electric car is in the garage with your prized Mustang, and it spontaneously bursts into flames. You go out to rescue your Mustang, and you can't get in it, or release the brake without your keys you left on the night stand! Rare? Yes, but the exact scenario has already occurred!

It is the new year, and wouldn't it be nice if those drift-stick-equipped drivers would resolve themselves, to never use it! Of course that won't happen, but it would sure go a long way to improve the image of Mustang drivers as a whole.

I have it on mine but will never use it to "Drift", but I like the way it looks compared to just having a button

Does it return to parking brake mode upon power off? Since it automatically enables ā€˜track’ mode always stay started isn’t an issue.

LOL! That’s all fine and dandy until it happens to you, or in my case, a close by neighbor whose EV burst into flames overnight, laying waste to their garage and luckily not their home. How many ICE vehicle just spontaneously combust?

FWIW, totally, it does seem that there are less EV fires in general, but the unexpected, spontaneous combustions of EV’s are definitely more and when an EV catches fire, it can be a PITA to put out.

I have to use it... at least to engage the parking brake... but of course no drifting for me...I like to keep the rubber on the tires.
