So I finally did it. I broke down and bit the negative equity I had in my loan and traded my Mustang in for a low mileage 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro. I just couldn't handle being in the shop every month for a warranty repair especially for airbag electrical issues. I've been fighting electrical...
My car has been kept outside uncovered it's whole life, through heavy rains and snow, and is currently awaiting parts for the water intrusion recall and it has never fogged up that badly even with me sleeping in the vehicle off overnight! That seems like a LOT of moisture. Is it possible some of...
A few things I've noted on my system that might help you reduce it engaging are it doesn't operate in cold weather, not sure exactly where the cutoff is but I feel like below -10°C (14°F) it will stop engaging, presumably to keep the engine and interior up to temperature and prevent running down...
If you have access to them in your area, Nokian Hakkapeliitta 10 Studded. Extremely popular in Canada as they are a Nordic Winter Tire meaning they are designed in Finland for harsh European winters, which usually trounce what you'll see in a tire designed for US or Western European winters...
My gearbox was pretty stiff getting into gear for probably the first 2k miles or so. Now that she's over 12k miles it's pretty good. Little bit notchy and "rocky" feeling going in like a little bit of a rumble felt in the hand but never any noise. Noise outside of hearing the shift lever rattle...
Cool! I wonder if that will affect anything else such as auto rev matching and etc. I've heard that sometimes tricking the BCM into thinking it's an auto partially can sometimes trip up other manual transmission functions.
If I do manage to get remote start working I plan on using it almost...
So today we got a demo unit of the LaunchTech X-431 series scan tool which is supposedly the latest and greatest and will play with everything late model that even the Snap-On tools can't touch. Plugged it into my car to get a feel for it and lo and behold while trying to find more info on the...
Just an update on this. Finally bit the bullet and went to the dealership and had them dig into the dash. Luckily they didn't have to tear too much to find the issue. The heater core was what was causing my issues with the HVAC system whistling like a tea kettle with the heat on at higher...
From what I can see my city has some of the lowest prices in Canada for 91 octane with Co-op and Petro Canada both hovering around 1.48-1.52/litre (about $4.08/gallon after dollar conversion rate and metric-freedom units) Keep in mind that's around what most other places pay for their 87...
For those of you who aren't sure if speed cameras/red light cameras and now these decibel meters are anything OTHER than a cash grab let me enlighten you.
I live in a city that had a massive speeding problem. They spent over 13 million dollars installing speed+red light cameras on every single...
I don't have any instrumented acceleration times but as someone who uses 87 in the winter and for long road trips where loads are low there is actually quite a noticeable difference in power between 87 and 91 and even 94 especially when it's hot out. In the winter it's negligible as you can't...
Didn't check the build dates on them but one or two I know rolled onto the lot a couple days ago I hadn't seen them there on the way to work until this month. They might be older units that just showed up from a factory order 🤷 you'd still think the service team would be at least somewhat in the...
I just went to my dealer to ask them about it again and the useless service desk jockeys looked at me like I was an alien. Went out and looked at all the 25's sitting on the lot and all of them had the old style fender liners with the holes still present. Ford Canada's website still shows the...
It does seem to want to turn itself off after certain conditions have been met. For me it feels completely random and I can't figure out the logic behind it. The only way I've been able to keep it on 99% of the time is to run the A/C and keep the temperature set to room temp or below.
Thanks for the recommendation! I don't mind most smells if I know they're coming. I just hate that random whiff of oil burning or hot plastic that comes off other cars without warning. Lots of junkers in this town that from a distance look like they are well maintained. Always makes me panic...
Not sure if this is just me or just a characteristic of the car in general but does anyone else think their cabin air filter SUCKS? Ever since day one I've had issues with smells entering the cab unless the air intake was set to recirculate, unlike any other car I've ever driven.
I understand...
Very handsome car! Been looking for a set of those aluminum Astra Hammond louvers myself but trying to avoid the double dipping of pricing and markups and tariffs. Believe it or not those are made in Ontario Canada but most distributors are only in the US!
Phoned the manufacturer and said he...
When I dropped my plastic undertray to do my first oil change I got about 4 pounds of calcium chloride (which is basically road salt on steroids that my city has decided to use), dirt and rocks directly into my eyes. So yes if you have ever taken your Mustang for a drive on anything other than a...
I actually just got back from a 3000+ km (1900 mile) round trip to see family. I actually HAND calculated my mileage and adjusted my AFE bias to match along the way so I know I am accurate.
Highest MPG's were seen between 70-90km/h (44-56mph) in 6th running through Jasper National park at about...
