Fingers crossed it’s a 7.3L Megazilla. Pair that with a manual. Maybe call it the ā€œBossā€. That would make some sweet noises.

I'm thinking "Dark Horse Boss" or something along those lines. Didn't they just register BOSS sometime within the last few months?

Agree that the partnership between Ford and Shelby seems to have gone bye bye, for now. Shelby is happy doing their own thing and selling their bolt on stuff rather than from the factory floor. Ford seems to be happy with their Dark Horse and GTD lines for the High End and ULTRA UBER DUBER high end respectively.

It's going to have the Boss moniker, but it will supposedly be a N/A 5.2L with a little less than 600hp and possibly comes in either a manual or a DCT setup.

It looks like one has the CF GT500 wheels and the other has the std. GT500 wheels and the Dark Horse emblem. I like the nifty little mule sticker on them. 🐓

That could certainly happen; Ford is capable of doing anything they want to do. But ~600 NA horsepower in a Mustang? While I’d love to see it I kinda doubt it. The last time they tried it with the GT350 I wouldn’t be surprised if their warranty claim dollars exceeded their per unit profit.

But who knows? It does seem Hagerty is taking a little poetic license.

Rumors of a new GT500 have been circulating for some time now. The pics may be new but Hagerty should know not to call it a GT500. The affiliation between Ford and Shelby has ended so the name will no longer be used.
I'm out of the loop on that. Can you explain?

The licensing contract came up and Ford decided not to renew it. So for now no more Shelby/Cobra badged Ford cars.
But Shelly is still converting mustangs right?. I just saw pictures of all the new S650s they have, and just bought new take off wheels from them.

please no to Dark Horse Boss. I really don’t want them to go the way of Dodge and have a whole sentence as a trim level. Boss by itself would be fine imo.

What? You don't want the "Dark Horse Boss Ultra 302 Track Pack Mega Uber Fastness"?

I knew that to be true here in the U.S., but I see that Ford filed this last week in Europe. Seems interesting.

N/A cars don't need/have heat exchangers. The car in those photos has a heat exchanger exactly where it was located on the previous GT500. That said, I would love a high-revving NA car with a stick.

Ford owns the Cobra name and badging. They have since the 1960's. Shelby America owns the trademarks for GT350 and GT500, they license those to Ford. That agreement has ended. Ford cannot build a new GT350/500 without a new agreement with SA. They can, however, build a Cobra.
