The sagga never ends. Ford just replaced the engine on my DH for an oil consumption issue last month and now I have an engine noise that was not there before. It happens on first start and just when it comes down from high idle and last about 5 seconds. After the engine is warm it still does it but not as frequently. I've attached a file so you can listen.

sounds like the PCV valve. If that is true it is normal

Drive it, close the hood.. go hammer it on the freeway and really ring it out.

Sounds healthy… like a dual overhead cam with Direct port injection that has high pressure fuel pump running off a cam lobe… making 500hp N/A.

Yes exactly
Mine does that to a lesser degree on cold start up. Usually in colder temps. You wouldn't notice it unless you're listening for it, and it stops as soon as the idle kicks down. I think it's just a cold pulley or something. Ive never heard it during warm idle or driving. I've heard of other cars doing the same thing and I'm not concerned.

@Doug Watson ..... I know you know what you are doing. I have several questions/suggestions all asked respectfully. 1. You are using FULL synthetic? 2. How many miles/kms on the new engine? FULL synthetic quiets a lot of irrelevant noises that are not bad - just concerning. IF and I say IF you have low miles/kms on the new engine there are always belt, pulley, drive train etc. sounds/noises that disappear when the engine gets some miles on it. Unless you have 1500 miles on it I would nor wring it out or hammer it. I wouldn't baby it either. I'd go "happy medium" . My guess is these noises will quiet down. If you are still on factory oil put the correct weight Motorcraft FULL synthetic and Ford oil filter on it for your first and subsequent oil changes. My friend switched from semi to full synthetic on his 2024 GT and the engine quieted right down. Patience grasshopper - you have a new DH engine.....respect it.

The ā€˜knocking’ at seconds 3,4, and 5 or the consistent ā€˜tic’ (for lack of a better word - not the legendary ticish sound some reference).

new engine you say or rebuilt?

So I figured out the noise it's coming from the PCV Valve. If I remove the line the noise stops. I want to replace it and have a new one but can't get the old one out. Does anyone know how to remove it out of the square recess.
