Stop start does not lower co2 or fuel consumption in any meani full way just more epa bs
Actually it is your bs. There is plenty of data out there to confirm SS does work saving fuel.

Quantifiable, repeatable and consistent, multiplied up by millions of vehicles globally. It will save you personally quite a small amount, but scale it up over millions of vehicles and it is huge.

It is all becoming academic of course because hybrids do it even when not stopped, which is where the world is going (in addition to other types of vehicle)

My son has Porsche 911 with SS, works very well and never interferes with driving. I have driven many Ford vehicles with SS and for the most part the systems work very well.

It is no big deal

Let's just agree to disagree. If you provide non biased scientific data I'll believe it. As for annoyance start I can throttle in and go faster then it responds.

You really don't have to look very far - different sources and different countries all coming to a similar conclusion.

As regards different systems on different cars - I have driven some very poor applications but also some very good ones where it has no impact on driving. The systems with ISG's are much better by their very design.

Well i revise my statement then to just annoying device, personal issue. I asked for unbiased data and you delivered. Interesting conclusions honestly didn't expect that much of a difference per car.

Indeed so. From personal experience in queuing traffic it makes a huge difference, where it is easy to burn 3 or 4 litres per hour idling. Obviously if you just drive out in the country it makes little or no difference, but guess where most cars are!

Of course the mild hybrid takes it a step further (and probably works better in most setups as engine restart is easier using the ISG) Then full hybrid takes it to the next step where engine shutdown happens when running downhill etc. There are plenty of mild / full hybrids doing 60+mpg now on petrol which is quite incredible.

Certainly in Europe where diesel is / was much more of a thing, the FHEV / PHEV have pretty much stolen all of the market from it now.

I had no idea Ford had mandated auto stop/start on the GTs. I must have bought an early car a couple of weeks ago because I don’t even have the button. I saw the “no cost option” on some window stickers while online shopping but it didn’t click until I started reading the boards. Maybe I got lucky and didn’t even know it ?

I really dislike the stop/start - my wife’s Cayenne has it and you have to turn it off in the on screen menu every time you drive it. Annoying.

There’s gotta be a way to trick the PCM into thinking “keep run” criteria is met. Unless that thing really is crack-proof!

There is lots of info available on this. It is always disabled in 'sport' mode, but in all other modes needs disabling on each restart. Early 2024MY car did not have SS.

Being right next to the ignition button is a bit of a blessing. I had an econo-box loaner car one time that not only put the switch down on the center console by the cup holders, but also required a SECOND button press: you had something like 10-15 seconds to press ENTER on your steering wheel to confirm your intent to disable the A.S.S.

Now THAT was annoying!

Buy a Dark Horse, pay the gas guzzler tax and not worry about it. I have two other Fords with Start Sop and I bought a cable that addressing being able to keep it turned off, but when you hit the button it functions again.

Is that your car or an internet picture? US car don't have Start Stop.
Yes they do. They implemented the start/stop feature halfway through the year. If your car doesn't have the start/stop then you paid $1,000 more for gas guzzler tax.

If that’s what it takes to avoid the A.S.S. system I would personally consider it a bargain. I find it to be the most irritating device ever foisted involuntarily on a consumer.
