Apparently you can order them stripped 2 door short bed with a whipple and 4wd!

Must not be too popular. I can't recall being called out by any lowered single cabs!

There are a ton out there. At least on YouTube.

4x4 obviously is going to out launch a Mustang on the street but they are heavier than a Mustang so it will take a bit more power in an F150 to go faster than a Mustang

Not to mention that the F150 has the aerodynamics of a large brick with wheels.

Pretty sure they run 11s with the blower… so… that’s a no.

I will say if you have a blank check, and are willing to put 50-60k into one… yeah, they’ll go fast as just about anything else on the street
Lookup midnight performance

I just don't understand how they can run over 100mph in 4wd. I thought you can only go 50-60 max without trashing the front drive shaft or diff. This is a standard 4wd not some viscous awd.

Who really cares if a pick-up truck is faster than a Mustang GT? Why?

Well this section is called S650 vs the competition.

I'm sure not everyone knows you can option out a base model 2 door F-150 with steel wheels and get the coyote 5.0, 4wd, and the dealer installed whipple and have a GT500 beating pickup for 50k.

The front driveshaft spins in 2WD
I'll admit, I don't have any experience with the latest generation of F150's; but the 4wd F150's from at least 2004 to 2014 have vacuum operated lockouts (for lack of a better term) which disconnect each of the front hubs from the front CV shafts. This effectively prevents the front wheels from driving the CV shafts and spinning the front ring/pinion and driveshaft.

The only time the front drive shaft should spin in 2wd is when shifting into 4wd on the fly. In this case the transfer case will spin the front drive line to match the current speed of the vehicle (up to about 55mph) before actually engaging 4wd and terminating vacuum to the lockouts to engage the front hubs. They do this so that when the lockouts engage while the vehicle is in motion there isn't a loud clunk and then a lack of 4wd because the plastic splines on the lockout that connect the hub to the CV shaft just stripped out.

Again, not familiar with the latest gen F150, but if they're not using this same system, I'd bet they still have something similar. There's a couple mpg advantage to not having the entire front driveline spinning in 2wd. Not to mention the reduced wear on the front driveline due to most of those parts being disengaged a good 90% of the time.

What blows me away is that the front diff, axle shafts, and t-case handle the abuse of 700+ HP launches. That's just wild. But they do. I have yet to see one break. And when guys launch them in 4-high you can kiss them goodbye. A Mustang is not going to keep up. Instant tail lights.

Heck, I have a buddy with a pretty modified Mustang GT that got tail lights from a F-150 out on the strip one night two years ago. It happened right in front of me. When we got to the next red light he asked the guy about the truck and it wasn't even a Coyote. It was a 3.5 EcoBoost that had a tune and had been cranked up!

If a guy could only afford one vehicle this is the way to go. You can man handle cars, but you can still tow the boat and bring things home from Lowe's. It's the perfect all-around vehicle.
