For street use a quart low isn't hurting anything. If you are doing laps at laguna seca, maybe. It really doesn't matter what your oil level is as long as the pickup tube stays submerged, and that's near the very bottom of the pan.

Running too light of an oil will cause thermal breakdown and main bearing failure. Like in all the GM trucks running 0-16.

GM had to up the recommended weight to 0-40 to keep the rods from welding to the crank.

This person I 100% trust with this info. They've been in the industry for a decent amount and 100% know what they are talking about.

The manufacturers have no interest in making a long-lasting engine any more.

Plastic parts, crappy DoD parts, DI systems that clog up your engine, ultra thin oil and yearly oil changes, lifetime fills of the transmission...

Not to be pessimistic, but 1/2 a quart low on a 10 quart fill is only 5% low. Doubtful there is a Ford conspiracy here.

And if you consume a half or full qt during the oil change interval now you are 10-15% low. Now you have a problem.

As Mr Ryan said, if it's sucking in oil it's fine. But significantly less oil means higher oil temps, which isn't.
