who knows. I don't think Ford would intentionally lower the recommended capacity, knowing it may cause warranty issues. the only thing I could figure is maybe the lesser capacity is intended to lower the oil level in relation to the crankshaft to avoid aeration issues in the oil (and mabe squeeze every last drop of fuel economy out of the engine). either way if I read the manual, under oil capacity and specifications, it doesn't mention whether to add a half a quart to the capacity for the performance package or Dark horse models with the added oil cooler. unless they figure the oil does not drain out of that system on an oil change. I did see on the Ford performance website, that the stamped steel oil pan was listed at a capacity of 9.5 quarts but that's without a filter also.

By the time you add filter capacity and oil cooler you are up to 10.5.
My wife’s old 2022 GT non-PP took 10qts to put it in the middle of the cross hatch and 10.5 to put it at the very top dot when I changed the oil.

My 2024 owners manual says 10 quarts but Ford says 9.5 and the manual was corrected for 2025 models. I also have issues with oil levels so Ford is now doing and oil consumption test. I also have the repair manual and it states run the engine for 15 minutes then let sit for 15 before checking the level. It makes a difference. The old school method of checking when cold before starting is not relevant anymore according to Ford.
