I wish we could just hang out one day and just switch off cars back and forth on some back roads. True test in my opinion!
Oh, the Dark horse is a whole other beast after an oil change and 1200 miles than it was new as well.
I would love it. Remember I owned a 2020 Mustang GT PP1 car. Loved it, Ford Performance Track kit, 409 gears Ford Performance Power Kit with Borla Switch fire and Ford Performance by Borla Aggressive exhaust.

I drove the M2 as I was searching for a Nürburgring Tool.
And yes it is exactly that.

Have to mention that the M2 has the basis of the M3. Since the 2 series is a front wheel drive basis, the M2 is more an 3 series than a 2 Series.
The BMW M GmbH did a really great job on that.

But it has much less emotional in daily driving and cruising around than the Mustang.

My experience on the Race Track is, that the M2 is not only way better in corners than my pony. Also the acceleration of the M2 is painful better.
But I kick their ass with my V8 sound. The audience at the race track love to see and hear me driving by because of that.

Exactly, I think it’s called… personality?

My car had the FP Track Kit with 19x10 and 19x11 wheels and 285/305 Michelins, she was no slouch in handling. The stock PP car was shit.

Race the M2 is based on the 2 series coupe which is rwd, it's the 2 series sedan based off of a FWD platform. There is no 2 series coupe fwd.

Ah thanks for that clarification.
I wondered about it.

I just bought helmets to have a ride toppless on the Race Track.

Just to beat these softy M2 drivers with sound and style. 😎😁

I initially planned to purchase an M3 before going with my Mustang as I love the way they look, despite all the hate among reviewers for the massive “nostrils”. I just could not bring myself to pay the $110,000 for the way I wanted it configured. I then thought about the M2, but I don’t like the look. Finally, I went for the S650, and have been loving it for almost two years now. I don’t care if the M2 is faster, is better stock on the track, has a better interior, etc (some of that opinion, some fact), I wouldn’t take it over my S650.

I enjoy reading professional, and not so professional reviews, on cars, comparing specs, performance, features, etc. I have come to the conclusion that while all that information is beneficial in understanding what you are getting, every person has different preferences on opinions, so don’t make decisions based on other’s reviews. Other than terrible reliability, I don’t let reviews have much of an influence on my decision. Go experience the vehicles for yourself and try to forget when everyone else says about them. One person loves the M2, and another the Mustang; decide for yourself which one you are, and don’t apologize for it. Likewise, don’t assume your decision is right and others’ is wrong; enjoy what you buy and be thankful others liked something else so we can all enjoy the seeing the diversity of vehicles.

Speaking of the Nurburgring...7:37 with Mich PSC2s. Not a full on competition tire. It could have done in the low 7:30s with a stickier tire. Like a Mich PSC2R.

One thing I learned watching a video on the M2 was that there is no oil dipstick, you check it on the screen, and the oil filter is hidden behind the engine, would not be easy to service, have to take it to dealership. they say checking the oil that way is more accurate than a dipstick. Interesting , I think all BMW's might be that way.

Interesting thread...

I'm currently considering buying a '24 mustang gt premium pp and I'm cross shopping with several other vehicles, one being a M240.

Short background, I currently have a '21 Stinger GT2 awd tuned to around 500bhp that runs mid 11's. It's been a really good car and I dont' have any issues with it, instead I'm just kind of bored with what I feel like is the lack of "soul" (for lack of a different term) as it's just too generic feeling to me now. Prior to the Stinger I owned an '18 Camaro 2ss and I feel like I really just miss the v8 and exciting exhaust that I can't get on the v6 tt platform.

With all that said I still am considering another 6cyl tt platform, although the more I consider it the more I feel like I probably just need to get another v8...

In general, would most of you consider v8 or a 6cyl tt platform more fun to daily drive on the street (not the track/autocross/dragstrip)?

Yeah after researching I would say go with the premium GT, the premium interior is really nice, also has cooled seats which the BMW does not come with. The GT also sounds lots better from what I can tell watching the M2, 240i youtube videos. If you get the GT can make it look even better by tinting the windows, & getting wheel spacers will also make it look more aggressive. All I have done to mine is tint and RTR wheels with 275/40R19 tires all around and looks pretty good. just be sure to get the active exhaust on your GT to get the quad exhaust tips.

Also I saw one of the The Smoking Tires youtube videos last night reviewing the 230i RWD and they liked it a lot also, if you do not have to have the 6 cylinder and its like $10K less. can make it look the same as the 240i just different engine, they said it handled better since it was lighter and on regular streets did not need the extra power of the 240i. BMW's are interesting to learn about, a whole different world than Mustangs haha. I would still miss the sound of my GT though. got my GT for just a little more than an optioned up 230i would cost also, BMW does cost extra.

The V8 sound is what give you the visceral satisfaction.
On that 1 thing alone is why I chose the Dark Horse over M2.
Add in a superior Tremec manual paired with the sound, it’s just a better recipe for a sports car in my opinion.
