And there is a LOT of plastic under the hood where heat will degrade it faster. BMW loves to use plastic gears in things like throttle body actuators.
Flashbacks to working on an E92 where the entire cooling system was literally crumbling.

Every piece of plastic just disintegrating in my hands. Good times, lol.

There's no

There's no comparison between an M/ product and the M packages. People often buy those, increase the boost and brag that their car is "better". Ms are all around the handling, and the standard chassis has few parts in common with the M/ products.

Still, BMW with a turbo...I already have enough headaches thinking about the rod bearing clearance and the plastic gears in my throttle body actuators-I really wouldn't want a ticking time bomb with a BMW turbo thrown in as well as I keep my cars until they aren't repairable (as evidenced by the 2003 Honda).

The B58/S58 motors are bullet proof. I am not worried at all.

S58 are bullet proof and the G platform in general is light years more reliable than E generation. Such a pity the engine sounds..."not good"...

I've had the cup holders do this, the rubber on all of the window seals and the trunk release...Yeah, it's interesting keeping up with the dry rot in the horrible plastics that BMW uses. Imagine the fact that the throttle body gears are made from that same crap!

I had an E92 M3 for 8 yrs. not once did the car go in the shop for anything. That car was bulletproof as well. I sold the car with 60k miles the guy went and had the rod bearings done and they were fine. I can't say the same for my 2020 S550, 2 oil pans, 2 bad 02 sensors and multiple recalls.

Yeah agree, I only deleted the secondary cats(kept resonators on)and soundwise anything more than that felt like a waste of money. Would rather increase induction noise than going catless on the s58.

I am sure they are impressive. My truck sees massive gains from a simple intake and tune.

Interesting...I was considering the MAD secondary cat deletes, or this midpipe...MAD Hpipe with resonators.

In the last couple weeks I’m seeing M2’s everywhere!
It’s weird
Ton of them in Chicago, and I was visiting friends in eastern Maryland, saw a couple there too.
Still happy with my choice as I see way less Dark Horse’s

If you change the midpipe better go single. I would get the resonated version from Active Autowerke. Single midpipe makes it sound deeper and helps to clean the sound at higher rpm, especially with the resonator.

I used this delete kit on mine:
https://www.rkautowerks.com/index.php/product/g80-g82-m3-m4-secondary-cat-delete-pipes/

But now MAD also makes a cheaper one:
https://mad-us.com/mad-bmw-m2-m3-m4-g87-g80-g82-s58-secondary-cats-delete/

Are we on Bimmerpost? 🤣

If I go single I am going with the Miltek as its 4" in diameter. I don't like the fact that most single midpipes are only 3.5". A single 3.5" doesn't flow as well as the OEM 2 2.75" piping.

A little late to the party but BMW is vastly superior in all but two aspects: sound and comfort. I have owned a 2013 135is and a 2016 m235i 6-speed convertibles, owned a 2005 Mustang GT and (now) it's 2024 sibling.

Car feel (Mustang is a boat as a daily driver), ergonomics, fit and finish, instant low end torque, MPGs are just some of the things that made 1 and 2-series special. Think sumo wrestler vs. karate master, lol. As far as reliability - water pump on 135 and a turbo intake charge pipe on the 235 were the only things that needed replacement, otherwise rock solid cars.

I couldn't find any manual BMW verts of recent vintage (used), so Mustang was an easy second choice :)

I ended up with the Milltek 4" single pipe with an X pipe. Sounds as good as its going to get. Does it sound as good as my S550 with the Borla Switchfire and Ford Performance by Borla mufflers....no not at all. It does scratch the itch. My son backing the car into the garage.
