And there is a LOT of plastic under the hood where heat will degrade it faster. BMW loves to use plastic gears in things like throttle body actuators.
Flashbacks to working on an E92 where the entire cooling system was literally crumbling.

Every piece of plastic just disintegrating in my hands. Good times, lol.

There's no

There's no comparison between an M/ product and the M packages. People often buy those, increase the boost and brag that their car is "better". Ms are all around the handling, and the standard chassis has few parts in common with the M/ products.

Still, BMW with a turbo...I already have enough headaches thinking about the rod bearing clearance and the plastic gears in my throttle body actuators-I really wouldn't want a ticking time bomb with a BMW turbo thrown in as well as I keep my cars until they aren't repairable (as evidenced by the 2003 Honda).

The B58/S58 motors are bullet proof. I am not worried at all.

S58 are bullet proof and the G platform in general is light years more reliable than E generation. Such a pity the engine sounds..."not good"...

I've had the cup holders do this, the rubber on all of the window seals and the trunk release...Yeah, it's interesting keeping up with the dry rot in the horrible plastics that BMW uses. Imagine the fact that the throttle body gears are made from that same crap!

I had an E92 M3 for 8 yrs. not once did the car go in the shop for anything. That car was bulletproof as well. I sold the car with 60k miles the guy went and had the rod bearings done and they were fine. I can't say the same for my 2020 S550, 2 oil pans, 2 bad 02 sensors and multiple recalls.
