Hi all

As per signature, I have a MY24.5 S650 GT with 6-speed manual gearbox.

I know when the vehicle has not been driven for 15+ days, you get the Ford Pass app "Remote features disabled to preserve battery" notification.

And this notification:

These notifications are time-based and are sent irrespective of whether your battery is being maintained with a trickle charger or not.
Not being a daily driver, I leave the CTEK MXS 5.0 connected when parked in the garage.

With the vehicle In "battery saver mode", I know that the tyre pressure units will always revert back to Bar (from my chosen PSI setting).
Sometimes the My Color colors will revert back to factory defaults, but not always.

My questions:

If the battery is actually disconnected for whatever reason;

a) what does the vehicle need to relearn?
b) what settings (other than TPMS units and My Color as already observed) revert back to defaults?

I think if you disconnect the battery, maybe also the adaptive shifting will reset to default. Meaning the shift points maybe will relearn your driving style. It did on my last car, so it’s just a guess.

Battery saver mode does none of those things on my car. Everything stays as normal. It isn't disconnecting the battery it is just turning off all non essential items. The alarm is still active etc.

the last time i did the battery disconnect reset procedure the only item i had to reset was radio source, for some reason it was on am. Tire pressure setting wasn’t lost just the reading was blank and phone was unknown name (by time i got back from around the block it figured out the name of the wifes phone - didn’t need to add it back).

i think the automatic will need to relearn driving characteristics but otherwise it should recover without having to redo everything.

i did not notice the my colors reset or i should say wife didn’t pop a gasket wanting to know what the blankitty blank blank i did.

edit: the radio source may have been a result of the update that had gotten modem stuck. Had to disconnect the battery to get past the spin wheel pin wheel so it would download and then had to trickle the battery to get it (the update) to install.

It might be a bug in the software or something, but going into Deep Sleep mode shouldn't cause anything to be lost. When sleeping, the vehicle has simply turned-off non-essential processes in an effort to keep the battery peaked up. Mine also goes into Sleep about two weeks after last power off. With tender attached, the car rests for several months throughout Winter, nothing being lost as a result.

With respect to disconnecting the battery...

The vehicle's Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Keep Alive Memory (KAM) will be maintained for up to 30 minutes after the battery is disconnected. Afterwards, any memory the PCM had of the drivetrain, like transmission learning tables, will be lost. Nothing of any significance will be affected. The car will later re-learn what it forgot. Many who tune their vehicles do a KAM reset as part of a new load.

Interior functions, those involving the Body Control Module (BCM), Accessory Protocol Interface Module (APIM), Android Auto, etc., were a question mark for me. The Restraint Control Module (RCM) controlling the airbags, that will power down one minute * after disconnect, confirmed; but this is simple on/off. As to phone or radio settings, IDK. The important references (like VIN for Telematics and security functions) in different modules are hard-coded and will not be lost.

* The RCM has a bit of residual power, to activate the airbags up to one minute after loss of vehicle power. The additional power is for safety. There's a chance a driver could be involved in an accident, and continue to roll until striking or being struck. For example, the initial impact deploys the side bags, but the secondary impact involves the front.

In mine the tyre pressure units don't change and remain in PSI after I get the notification. In fact, I don’t notice any changes after the notification
