Look at when your car was built, vs when it was shipped to the dealership. Ford, if memory serves me, Ford has a 45 day stand test that says the battery can sit 45 days and still start the car. If it is more than 45 days, it needs to be charged with a battery charger, not the alternator of the vehicle. We would test them with a light bulb that simulated the draw of the vehicle when it is not being driven to validate the 45 day requirement.
