The big problem here is Ford Australia's disinterest in selling vehicles other than Ranger or Everest. Those models are far more profitable, are a quicker turnaround from order to production to delivery. In other words, they require no effort to sell. So naturally, they also want to prioritize those sales, along with any after care. Mustang is a distraction for them. On the USA side, its the same thing concept, just swap Ranger with F-150. This all means there is no great rush to fix this issue.

Received this message from my dealer today…The message I believe came from Ford Australia. Looks like no chance of 2024 delivery 😩

DO NOT DEMONSTRATE OR DELIVER any new in-stock vehicles involved in this compliance recall. It is expected a complete Dealer Bulletin will be provided to dealers in January confirming repair requirements, which is expected to be
a calibration update. Further updates will be provided to Dealers as soon as they become available.

I understand that feeling but hang in there, its worth it.
My GT is delivered to Melb Port weeks ago now, same blank screen in the batch of cars made around May. This morning they informed me mid Jan before the possible fix, no mustang till at least then!! Pretty frustrated.

How can it take that long for a software update, and our cars will just be sitting outside exposed to elements. This whole process is an absolute joke, over 2 years to get a car and then held up by this crap.

Hi All,

I received a call from Ford Australia yesterday and it was confirmed that the US has the fix and is implementing now. Ford Australia will also allow compensation claims to be put forward, however, this needs to be documented.

Today I received a call from the dealer and was informed that the bulletin was issued stated that the Australian fix is expected to be ready in Jan 25. This could all be smoke and mirrors, but, fingers crossed that this is accurate.

Cheers.

Also if US has fix then why can't that be implemented onto our cars in December it surely can't be that difficult

Completely agree, this is why we need to hammer Ford Australia with complaints. And requests for compensation for the delay/depreciation of receiving a 2024 vehicle in 2025.

This is really disappointing and I’m sad for all of you waiting for your cars.

I really don’t think there’s any grounds for compensation, unless you’ve amended your purchase contracts. You’ve paid a deposit, and if you cancel under its terms you get your money back.

Ford Australia know they can sell all these embargoed cars so they will take their time to get it right early in life of the new model being available in AU.

I expect that this defect is due to a component change at a microscopic level that is causing a conflict in the vehicle operating system, and that Ford Engineering are searching back with their suppliers to understand what’s changed. It’s likely a chicken and egg thing to find what’s needed to fix them. Worst case they scrap them because it’s too costly to investigate - unlikely and sad if it came to that.

They have buyers queuing to get these cars, and they will be sold when this is resolved. With the Green influence on Governments you can’t rule out V8’s being banned or hit with crazy taxes.

My advice is stick with your order - keep your place in the line, and then make a decision when there is a decision available.

The problem by not having taken title to the vehicle you haven’t suffered depreciation. Ford hold title to the vehicle and they have the risk of depreciation if they don’t sell it.

Take a look at your purchase contract and see whether you have any grounds for compensation. In absence of a modified purchase contract I think the best thing to do would be to play nice with Ford and try and get moved to the front of the line if that’s what you want.

I agree, my dealer still isn’t aware of the fix so I’m not really sure what’s going on in Ford US.

Agree fully, I'm 14 months waiting, sold my car in May to make room in the shed, just so frustrating. I ordered a Rapid red with black pack, resigned to waiting now for it. The thought of a hail storm like the other month on my mind with the possibility of my lovely car out in the open.... waiting!

I tend to agree, the std contract of sale goes to pains to point out that Ford Aus can't guarantee a delivery date and you acknowledged this by signing it when you paid your deposit. Delivery delays are not grounds for compensation unfortunately.

I think compensation is available to those who've taken delivery already and had an incident that you can prove is a direct result of the screen issue (speeding fine, crash etc...). Proving it would be tough though.
