TL;DR: Non-HP Dark Horse track build, going 305 square on 19x11s. I want to stay around factory HP ride height, not lower the car. Has anyone actually run OEM GT350R springs on an S650? Interested in ride height, handling balance, and clearance.

Full details:

I’m building out my non-HP Dark Horse for track use and planning to run a 305-square setup. The goal is to stay around the factory HP ride height rather than going with a lowering spring.

I’m looking at the OEM GT350R springs as an OEM+ track option because of the higher spring rates:

Standard Dark Horse non-HP:
Front: ~194 lb/in
Rear: ~657 lb/in

GT350R OEM:
Front: ~240 lb/in
Rear: ~914 lb/in

That’s roughly a 24% increase in front rate and 39% in the rear.

What I’m trying to find out is how these actually work on the S650.

1. Ride height:
Did the GT350R springs keep the front close to the stock S650 height while dropping the rear slightly and reducing the factory rake? If you measured before and after, I’d especially like to hear your numbers.

2. MagneRide / handling balance:
How did the higher rear spring rate affect the handling balance? Did the stock MagneRide calibration work well with them, or did you feel a recalibration was needed?

3. 305-square clearance:
Any rubbing or clearance issues? What wheel width/offset and camber were you running?

I’m planning 19x11 wheels with camber plates.

I’m not looking to lower the car. I’m specifically trying to find an OEM-based spring that gives me more spring rate while keeping the car at or above factory HP ride height.

If you’ve actually run GT350R springs on an S650 GT or Dark Horse, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience.

Thanks.
