They were already installed on my 2020 GT350 and would like them back in my DH. Will they void the warranty does anyone know?

No, they won't void the warranty unless you use a lame dealer. I put a much less costly J&L in mine and it works fine. You pay for the for the Ford name and plastic parts.

I second the JL unit, had them on 3 different 5.0 and like them. Unless you have forced induction, you only need one on the right side.

I have them installed, drivers' side almost nothing of oil residue, passenger side there is a lot of oil between oil changes. The Ford Performance cost more but I like the look better than other aftermarket options. That being said they all work the same.

Why is there such a difference in trapped oil between passenger & driver sides?

I've tried to find the answer to that question before I bought mine but could not find the science behind it. I bought the set because at that time Ford only sold them that way. You may be able to find the Passenger Side only now if you don't want both.

I don't know about the Ford system, but on my old muscle car type engines, the crankcase ventilation was accomplished with vacuum on one side, and fresh air on the other. So basically a filtered breather on one side and a PCV valve with a line going to the air cleaner to suck on the other side.

I did not bother researching to see whether the Ford Coyote designed oil separator systems work on the same principle.

Ok, so I did a little research, and, sure enough, the passenger side goes into the intake tube behind that MAF, so, same principle, just not into an air cleaner sitting on a Holley 750 double pumper, LOL

More than you ever wanted to know in 12 minutes (including that some just vent it, lol, shhhh . . . don't tell the California air resources board

Watch for the effect on fuel trims . . .

Interesting.

So, to be clear, what the YouTuber is suggesting is different from the Ford design, which is more like what I described above. The plumbing is like this: Fresh air in the passenger side, then dirty crank case vapors sucked out the driver side and into the engine's intake.

The driver side valve cover takes in clean fresh air from behind the air filter into the engine. The passenger side has the check valve (PCV valve) and is plumbed into the intake behind the MAF sensor for a vacuum source.

YouTuber is saying either put vacuum on both or vent both to the air.

The stock Ford design is why your passenger side is clean. That is the fresh air intake. There is no vacuum source to this valve cover.

If boosted, however, there is a good chance of blowing oil out the passenger side valve cover and into the catch can due to crankcase pressure, so the passenger side can may not be so clean even without vacuum.

They 100% can void your warranty if...

You don't clean out the Air/Oil Separator (AOS) and it fills up with oil, gets clogged (think winter and frozen water vapor), hoses get pinched, etc...

Which could lead to excessive crankcase pressure that can blow out seals, such as rear main, or pour excessive amounts of oily yuck into your intake...

And your dealer determines that whatever bad condition occurred is related to the catch can.

Therefore, check often especially when first installed to get an idea how your engine is performing. If you aren't running any forced induction (pro-, turbo-, super-charger) and there is oil in your drivers/clean side, that could be an indication of a problem.

Expect to see some yuck in your passenger/dirty side. Note passenger side means PCV valve on the valve cover (not the location of the AOS as some manufacturers, such as J&L, mount the dirty/passenger side AOS on the drivers side).

Also, some vehicles not only catch the yuck but also route it back to the crankcase - I'm not referring to those.

Bottom line, the one problem with catch cans is that they need to be checked and maintained.

Update: the S650 Owner's Manual does state that catch cans do not require maintenance, this is WRONG!!!

Catch Can
If you plan to track your vehicle and it did
not come with an oil catch can, we
recommend that you purchase the catch
can kit though your authorized dealer or
Ford Performance Parts Catalog.
Installation instructions are included with
the catch can.
The catch can has a self-draining feature
and does not require any maintenance.

Not changing your oil also voids your warranty. No need to over explain it. The OP was asking is if installation voids warranty. It does not. It goes without saying you need to drain them periodically.
