Watched a video that said you could gain hp by removing the carbon restrictors. Has anyone done this?
Not sure what that might affect downstream or is it purely air flow.

Bunch of videos on it when the cars first came out, doesn't do anything like it did on the last generation

It seems the reports lean more toward a greater seat-of-the-pants throttle response feel improvement than the dyno displayed determination.

I took them out about 5500 miles ago and honestly can’t report the car feeling any different. I simply wanted to see if it would make a difference. One day I’ll put them back in, they were easy to remove. I still have the stock filters.

No CEL warnings or anything else. IMHO, and I’m no mechanic/engineer, but it seems like if I folded those traps up, it would represent about 20-25% of the opening volume where they are placed.

Has anyone else done this? Intuitively it should help to remove them. Any anticdotal benefits realized?
Unfortunately, I didn't check after each change to quantify the differences, but between high flow air filters, removing the carbon traps and installing an x-pipe the throttle response and power delivery felt significantly better.

Most people’s highly calibrated butt-o-meters are notoriously inaccurate. The only time I have ever felt a “seat of the pants” difference in power is when I’ve done a modification, gone to the dyno and found a prodigious dip in the power curve.

YMMV of course.

Most of those "butt-o-meters" may have been calibrated incorrectly, causing a fart indifference...:giggle:
