So . . . you're saying we should run the quarter mile with the hood open? With stock and my filters, we saw a noticeable increase with the lids off and hood open

Hey thatās super awesome! Iāll check them out!I brought my own to market since none of the other aftermarket options meet my requirements. They are all geared towards maximum flow whereas mine target oem filtration efficiency while being reusable.
I sell them directly through our website.

There is a thread on here that has the entire development process and testing included in it.
TBF, if our position is 11.4 is inaccurate then itās almost certain the 12.5 is also inaccurateJust letting you know they aren't accurate. The 12.5 is.
Exactly. I feel that. Time to hit the track up! And some dyno tests.TBF, if our position is 11.4 is inaccurate then itās almost certain the 12.5 is also inaccurate
1/4 mile tin
at a track, with a solid 60ā and good reaction time and repeatable follow up runs would be generally accepted
as to the open/ closed: I can tell you from first hand experience that no matter how much evidence, dyno runs, time slips you provide, there will be some online who insist what you did isnāt sound or the results are meaningless. IF there was no ram air, open elements should provide better breathing but, you would only note a difference in power if there was a limitation with the previous setup.
I went through this on my ā97 and still had people crying āheat soakā even after back to back to back dyno runs on the same dyno showing no significant power loss The open filter netted me 9.9 hp At the wheel. Repeatable. Put the stocker back on& dropped 9,8.
that said, I agree the Onboard gauges and timers arenāt the best way to measure your 1/4 mile times.
Oh shit never thought of that! Thatās also some good points!take this with a grain of salt butttt.. What if what your experiencing is bc your not giving the car enough time to properly adjust the fuel trims therefore it's making less than ideal adjustments on the fly to compensate? You throw the lids on after only a pass or two ( 1 mile ish max?) and open them back up to what the car has stored in the fuel trims and it's happy again? I have a vague experience tuning old DSM's and that makes sense to me with my vague understanding of how it all works.
Thanks! I was hoping to help but I'm sure alot of the stuff we did back then would not apply today. But given these cars run the Wideband o2's and shown alot of factory adjustability it would make sense.. I'd like to see 150 or so miles with lids on and see if the times improve.Oh shit never thought of that! Thatās also some good points!
Iām making notes here yall.
thanks for all the input!

True, but the 12.5 is at least possibleTBF, if our position is 11.4 is inaccurate then itās almost certain the 12.5 is also inaccurate
Doubt it. The car adjusts almost instantlytake this with a grain of salt butttt.. I figured, But just a pea brain thoughtTrue, but the 12.5 is at least possible

I have the Whipple competition open air boxes. The big difference with these are that the box area is bigger so more air can get around the whole filter. When I took off the stock ones it seemed from the dirt marks that the air was only going in a small area of the filter. There is something else at play here and it's not closed vs. opened air boxes. The delta between open closed is 1.1 seconds which cannot be achieved by opening the air boxes even if the air entering was the same as closed which is impossible with under hood temps. Something else is causing this delta and it is not the air boxes.
Takes way bigger changes to get to 1.1 second delta (HP Speaking).
