On the GTs, you see a lot of closed off grille holes.

Why not cut the entire intake mesh off?

I saw some drilled holes to increase flow.

Also, it should should better with a gapping duct straight to the intake.
Seems to be fine for the DH.

Looks pretty restrictive - probably less than 50% of the total area.

Damn that looks nice without the mesh over the intake!

I have been wondering why the GT is like that before the car was even released. I was happy to see the intake tube was at least directly linked to the grill when I picked the car up. I would love to know why Ford did it that way on the GT. I was thinking it was a thing to restrict the GT to try and give the Dark Horse the edge in horsepower but hasn't Ford stated the difference in horsepower is just in the tune?

It's certainly an exspensive option but the RTR grill with the light inserts will open those airways up, as well as provide styling and lighting. I like the look but not the nearly $700 price tag.

It could be to keep critters from making a home in your air intake. Here we don't have much of a problem with that however from what I understand wetter climates not only make homes in your car but try to live off the wiring.

Has anyone else noticed the passenger side grille is completely blocked while the driver side allows air to pass? I saw it on mine and was curious why its blocked off

Do you mean the lower corner air inlets?

The windshield washer fluid tank sits right behind it.

the lower-right intake on the bumper is covered up for a good reason. without the cover, people could easily tamper with your washer fluid reservoir and PCM. here is a picture i took of the area behind that cover

you also don't need to cut it out, you can unbolt it

Not a fan of those LED lights tbh.

But yes, they are open too. I doubt there are any downsides.

I believe it will only lead to the airbox and should be sealed otherwise.

Bugs and leaves might get in but will stuck in the airbox under the filter.
Darkhorse should have that setup and I suppose it fine.

I might cut mine.

I haven't checked under the hood but my Dark horse didn't come with anything covering that area. It is a bit confusing because they warn you not to enter standing water higher than the bottom of the rim because it might get into the air intake. if that is the air intake, it's two feet off the ground. Probably another error in the print manual.
On the other hand, the air intakes on my 82 were in the wheel well and that thing was a vacuum cleaner. You would find all sorts of junk it picked up off the ground.

I’m actually surprised we haven’t seen before and after dyno runs.

first stop: open grill
second stop: remove inline restriction
Third stop: revise according to results of first and second stop.
