Do not have an answer. More questions and what-ifs than anything else.

With respect to the GT, my interest would be in 1) increasing the volume of air approaching the MAF/TB and 2) any change in cooling effects.

If you look at the stock GT grille, and then the RTR grille, notice how neither is completely open. The RTR grill has a cone-like shape to the insert. I can appreciate it is to direct flow better, to concentrate it, but how does the shape affect the amount or volume of air allowed in? Is it the same as the stock grille?

So...if one were to just open the section completely, how will that effect the fuel trims? MAF logic? Someone posed this question previously I think, in dealing with an issue on a Forced Induction engine.

Would a 2024 GT encounter the same? More volume in, with the MAF/TB having difficulty adapting to that?

Ford did what they did on the GT for some reason. Maybe it is just to keep the DH one step ahead. but maybe there's an Engineering reason behind it. IDK. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♀️

Give me an aftermarket grill with electronically controlled louvers at the intake openings and I just may be talked into spending some money, of course, provided there are documented repeatable performance improvements as a result.

I wonder what all would be involved in swapping in the Dark Horse setup.

On the GTs, you see a lot of closed off grille holes.

Why not cut the entire intake mesh off?

I saw some drilled holes to increase flow.

Also, it should should better with a gapping duct straight to the intake.
Seems to be fine for the DH.

I think it is very possible that cutting out the plastic mesh could cause this small opening to create a restriction. In order to have good flow you want the exiting air to have more available flow than the intake. If they have balanced this out in their design you could be creating the opposite effect that you are looking for. This isn't a fact but just an observation. I will not be cutting mine out, at least until someone proves it is for the better flow.

I'm still considering cutting or at least opening up that intake restriction.

The DH, RTR, and FP800 are all fully open inlets.

Doesn't make sense to me to have those dual 5 intake ducts only to be fed by a couple of square inches of air?

The filterbox is very easy to open up and clean if needed.

There are tiny hole at the bottom for water to drain.

I'm just wondering if there was a reason ford did that?
Perhaps to make the induction noise less loud?

Maybe for another reason to get the dark horse.

Another ‘trick’ to help prevent intake tubing heat soak is wrap but usually gets a funny face due to aesthetics.

Looks like the grille is blocked off for a reason.
I suspected pressure buildup, that may be the case:

Very good point actually.
Not an engineer here, BUT, with the heat extractor/hood vent, wouldn’t you want less air entry than outlet, to create some kind of vacuum and increase the air intake/suction ?! And by that, heat extraction as a result ?!

I might be onto something…. Or be completely off 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

Is there a way to swap the DH front grill onto a GT bumper?
or is that DH grill one massive plastic piece
You will have to swap the entire front bumper just to get the DH grill.
