I don't know how they'd crack it. Trying to apply sealer with a hammer? I can't even see where they've been.
That’s good to hear. I’ve been on the wrong end of some dealership butcher jobs. Back when I drove a CX-5, the local Mazda dealership put a scratch all the way from the rear passenger door handle to the center of the driver’s side door.

I think there was smoke coming out of my ears when I showed up to get the car.

Well, they did damn good job. No sign it's been touched.
Kiwis have always had really good Techs, it's why so many have worked in F1.

My recall was done and they did not overuse the sealant and made it look neat even though no one will ever see it. Now if the BCM ever becomes a corroded mess I can say well the recall was done so I'm not paying for it 🤷‍♂️. Windshield is also fine I was most worried about that.

Well.... I thought I was good from a few months ago. Officially did the recall as well, everything passed. Even was rocking a new BCM.

Then, last month I had a no crank no start. The wiring harness had corrosion wicking up. Was fixed and shipped, life seemed okay.

Last Friday, I started having my same intrusion symptoms show up again with my dome lights flickering.

Sadly it's probably time for the car to go. I don't think this car will ever be permanently repaired.

Edit: Forgot to say why I really made this statement, not just to be negative -- even post recall, keep close eye!

I actually got a reminder from Ford this week that I haven't had the recall done. And I still don't plan to do it! At least for another 3 months. Glenn

First, sorry to hear of your problems.

Are you saying that the water toasted your BCM, then you had the recall done, and that the water from the earlier leak (or perhaps a new one) got into the ECM and toasted that, and now your BCM is bad again (which I read as an indication that the fix didn't work).

Did I get that right?

FWIW, I have to agree that it may be time to pass these troubles along to someone else. Which sucks for them.

So the harness was bad from previous water intrusion repair and thats what failed because it was not replaced? Could you explain a bit more if it's not to much trouble? BTW I'm sorry to hear that your having issues.

Timeline... and I may have codes somewhere if folks find them helpful:

-Basically since new, pre-recall--water intrusion against the BCM. On my car, the first note (apart from a soggy floor) was when the dome lights began flickering as if a door was ajar.
-After a month of repair attempts on and off, eventually, we did get it sorted for a few months. After we felt good about it, BCM was replaced, old one was getting crusty.
-Life was good for a few more months, though with less use in the snow (but not none, I used it like a daily.)
-Recall comes out, recall service performed. Passed and was cleared. (Can't remember exactly when I had it done, may have been done in same visit as below).
-About a month, month and a half ago I had a no-crank, no start. Car wouldn't see the key, wouldn't start with Ford app remotely either. Eventually got it to start and got a wrench light and several other codes. Car randomly turned itself off after a few minutes as if it had a false-button press...which made sense given the codes, one of which was for an issue in the start/stop button circuit. Flatbedded car to dealer for safety reasons, found that moisture had wicked up the wiring harness. Harness was respliced and shipped. Didn't think much of it afterward, made sense as secondary damage from earlier. Not great, but we'll recover.
-About a week and a day or two ago, dome lights began flickering again. Same exact failure mode as how this all began. Parked it. Last night finally got around to tearing through it. Moisture was hitting the BCM in the exact same spot and personally verified moisture on the connectors.

At this point the car's been patched up and re-sealed so many times... who knows what gave this time. But at a minimum the harness is re-compromised yet again, as is the BCM.

I hope others have better luck and can use this info as preventative. Thanks to those offering kind words to my position.

Sorry to hear you're going through this. What a frustrating experience.

I'm curious if you happen to know the build date of your car. I know Ford made some production updates after August 2024.

Separately, did you try a different dealer? Sorry if you've already stated this.

Definitely not an early build, so that's interesting. You may have something else going on that's not tied to this recall.
