I think that is probably programming for the A10. I remember it takes a good 1k to 2k miles for those transmissions to settle and learn how to shift for the s550. Plus the DH is a track car so it doing that in the 1/4 mile is a bonus.

Yep 100% the Dark Horse is like the Mach 1 / GT350- none of these are drag cars...they are all track cars so I am with you 100% - the fact they are quick in a straight line is a bonus

And yes- I owned an S500 PP1 A10 prior- while drag mode worked right away- normal daily driving took some time for it to learn - sounds like the programming is MUCH better on the S650 though

Crazy braking... I'm guessing the GTD will be breaking that record again when it comes out carrying way less weight with brakes I'm assuming that will be at least as good if not better.

How different are the Brembos from a GT with the Brembo option compared to the ones on the DH?

I don’t know but braking performance often has as much to do with the tires as it does with the actual brakes, for example the 2018 dodge demon stops in 97 ft. It did that with 4 piston fronts but importantly giant sticky 315 tires.

I did some searching on Fords website and the setup on the DH has a 2 piece rotor setup and the front and rear rotors are both 15”. I’m sure there are other differences, but that’s what I noticed.

Keep trying to convince myself that by the time they get around to building my DH they will be producing a better product. LOL!

wait wait wait......somewhere on this site is a post about how disappointing the DarkHorse was gonna be right? Oh those folks who talk crap before the numbers are in
I don’t know about the DH, but I’m not real thrilled with the speed of mine. Of course I really don’t plan on getting a speeding ticket, but it doesn’t seem to have as much get up and go as our 79 TA

I could be wrong but I think the dark horse shares the brakes with the GT500 and the GT doesn’t.
The brakes are the same as the gt pp brakes with better rotors of the same size but that will mostly just help with fade under heavy heavy use the main difference is the tires. Most don't realize tires are insanely important for braking.

This is first time they've used a tire like this which why this happened.

They ran just a tenth off with a 2018 Mustang GT Auto. The test for the 2018 was 0-60 in 3.8 sec and the 1/4 mile in 12.1 @118.8mph, .4mph more speed with the 2018. The DH was 160lbs heavier than the 2018 Mustang GT they tested.

I'd love to see a 2024 GT and S550 GT quarter mile time head to head on the same track same day. The horsepower gains on the dyno for a S650 ran back to back with a S550 show to be more than enough to offset the weight gain. The only thing i could think that would make a 24 slower is the torque management in the auto, but i think in the end, the 24s will be quicker. If it does end up being torque management, a tune will really open these up.
