2024 - Brembo Differences

I just picked up a new Mustang with the 401A package. Carmine Red interior, Vapor Blue exterior, GT.

None of the features on the window sticker call out a Brembo option, but the front caliper has a Brembo logo. Is this just the default brake for the 2024 GT with my package, or is there some option I got that was unlisted? Are the upgrades just more pistons?

Brembo is the OEM supplier for all Mustang brakes, PP packages provide upgraded calipers and larger rotors and for me was worth the $5295 PP cost

Yea, I would have preferred the PP and other Brembos, but it was a choice for the Crimson Red interior. There was only 1 in my area. Beggars can't be choosers.

The performance package Mustangs have an extra set of calipers on the rear wheels. Worth noting if you're putting the car sideways, as the Torsen lock-up and torque vectoring change the steering after you flick it.

Correct, those black “calipers” are for the electric parking/emergency brake. They are not part of the hydraulic braking system.

Yes, and for the Drift Brake mode. If you kick out the rear hard in Sport Mode, it'll use every system at its disposal to try to keep you from spinning further. You can feel it hit an "electronic wall" where all the safety system are like "uhhh, buddy? Watcha doin?".

Put it in the Track mode, enable the Drift Brake, flick into a turn and use the drift brake to manage the torque vectoring, and all those same system are working with you, rather than fighting you.

How close would the std little brake switch work , in comparison to the funky "drift handle" brake switch ?

Would they essentially do the same thing ?
Or
Does the "Drift handle" switch have different BCM settings ? I Kinda assume it would.

Basically, can I get similar results as the Drift handle by using the std little switch our car has , since it has the auxiliary rear brake the PP comes with ? (granted it wouldn't be as cool or easy to grab)

The drift brake is only available with the PP... the PP brake lever works differently than the standard toggle switch.

I was thinking they essentially did the same thing , only the fancy handle made it more realistic. Wierd to have the extra brake caliper , but not have it work similar. Idk though , so why I ask.

I did not want the PP but wanted the Brembo Upgrade (same brakes as the PP) and I got lucky on mine that it checked all the boxes. But I looked and looked and looked so I understand, you have to make choices.

The extra calliper is the electronic parking brake (replaces the mini drum brakes inside the rear discs or actuation of the rear brake pads) it has zero function on the drift brake.
It’s most likely the rear bembo doesn’t support electronic actuation as it’s a multipot (4) design.

The drift brake uses the abs controller to apply hydraulic pressure to the rear brakes only through the normal callipers.
The handle acts like an analogue / variable input and not an on / off switch. The harder / faster you pull on the handle the more pressure it applies to the rear brakes. But only when in drift mode. In normal mode it operates the electronic parking brake on or off
