I'm sure someone has brought this up by now, but... that's a really short refresh cycle, isn't it?
Well, the new edge body style only lasted 6 years. SN95 was 5 years.

That's a lot more time compared to the 2 years that the S550 refresh - so what's your point, Vanessa? Also, the Newedge was the refresh of the SN95 so technically the SN95 lasted 11 years.

If I enjoy my '18 I'll be looking forward to the s650 refresh in 2024 as it's replacement (if the s650 refresh looks mean enough).

If they make it self driving so it will bring me back from the pub so much the better.

Well, Felicia, I was just responding to another post. My point? I don't think the time frame is short for a remodel.
I'm not sure where you're getting 2 years from. Maybe your math skills aren't up to par. This thread is about the 2021 Mustang. 2021 minus 2015 equals 6 years. Besides, now that Mustang is world wide, I'm sure Ford wants to beat the Jones's to the punch and ensure Mustang continues to be a top notch American sports car and stays sought after overseas.

Looking forward to seeing the new 8-Series......but not as much as I'm looking forward to seeing S650 :)

Typical refreshes are after 3 years with all new model after another 3 years. The S550 has followed that thus far(15,16,17- 18(refresh), 19,20) 21-S650.

And technically, the SN95 platform was just a revised Fox... So really it was more like 25 years.

But really, the S550 is a pretty short lived platform if it really is only going to last until 2021.

Wishful S650
Hmm, wow. Almost gave me a heart attack, as I thought that was an actual internal Dearborn/Cologne design proposal. S650 development got off ground in CY2015, right? I think by the end of this year, the design should be locked down right?

I say this, considering that Ford was at this point with the current generation back in early 2012?

If this is even on an all-new platform, I'd wager they'd need to be done earlier than that, like by this summer if production start-up is still in 36 months.

Considering the current car (S550) will be roughly 6 years old by April of 2020, it is not far-fetched for them to be redesigning it so soon.

Ford already said during the latter S197 days, that 9-10 year life-cycles would be going out in the window, but then again that was under Mulally (Fields does as he pleases).

I wonder what direction design-wise the next Mustang will go in, as all that is being decided during the next several months, so all of you need to make your voice heard.

Ah, clever.;)

S650 exterior design considerations have probably recently kicked off.

It is likely that it will not follow 2018 MCA styling cues.

Wow, you're a happy little camper, aren't you? Welcome to Mustang6g

Actually, it's very similar to S550, so I think it has a strong Mustang vide, but each to their own, eh? :)

If only the S550 would have been built with a functional scoop like that sketch with those strong lines running along the door. Would have been sexy.
