mine not the BBQ tick, that actually began only recently. Ive had several cars with noisy injectors so of no concern to me. the source being the phasers and/or HP fuel pump are typically the replies to you will receive either on the forum or asking any tech with Coyote experience. 'They all do it' is usually part of the reply. my only real concern is that if the cause is metal on metal friction causing the harmonic. No one's ever explained that fluids (oil or fuel) are the cause. The PCV theory is more recent to me. I will look into it further. I have another year of warranty and will probably visit my independent mechanic and round back wit the dealer before its up

Yeah that is my only worry, I can live with the noise if that’s all it is. it makes me concerned that it is a relatively new sound that only appears on random cold starts. I just got a mechanic stethoscope, so I am going to see if I have any luck narrowing it down myself.

yes it was also explained to me as the high pressure fuel pump or cam phasers, both on the same side. the service tech popped the hood on a new GT on the dealers lot and it made the same sound, around 2000 rpm. so at 10k mi on my 24 GT it has not gotten better or worse ( it goes away after 1/2- 1 hr of driving or some hard pulls. . just a personal preference if I could quiet it I would. rather hear the exhaust than the sound of it ready to throw a rod
No no no. You are describing the 2k rattle. The OP is talking about something totally different. The PCVs rattle on these cars briefly on cold start-up and certian ambient temps. It doesnt last long, usually goes away when the idle kicks down.

Are the taps yours makes identical to mine? Mine started doing it around 4800 miles. If so, did the tech ever tell you why it happens inconsistently? My biggest concern is it coming and going, where as the bbq tick, it does it all the time.
Ok I got to talk some sense into you. šŸ˜‰

You've had at least 6 people tell you its normal now, but you are ignoring them and going down the rabbit hole with someone talking about a different symptom.

As people have mentioned, these cars have a common rattle on cold start ups, and its sevarity depends on ambient temps. It goes away fairly quickly, usually after the idle kicks down or after a couple mins when the engine warms. It is most certainly the PCV and completely harmless.

I have listened to your videos and read your discriptions. Mine does the exact same thing as do others. There's have been multiple threads on this. Stop obsessing and go drive your car man.

I agree with you. I think I am just a little nervous because I’ve had two prior coyotes that never made this kind of tapping noise so I think I’m just looking to put my mind at ease a little bit. Appreciate everyone helping. Love this community

Just used the stethoscope on the car. The tapping was there on the cold start, but it wasn’t as pronounced. I held the stethoscope in all the places I think would be hotspots. The only one that returned serious vibration was the PCV valve. I will continue doing tests though, but not worried.
