This is the dumbest article ever. If C&D would have taken 5 minutes to do a little Google search they would learn that these cars are more set up for drifting, not drag racing. Drifters aren't as concerned about 0-60 or quarter mile times. There is more concern about breaking the tires loose on initiation (which this car does) and maintaining stability through the drift. Drift culture is completely different from other forms of motorsport. It's not about the fastest or fanciest car. It's about big angle, close proximity, and having fun. I don't expect everyone to get it, but if you are a big magazine publisher maybe you should do your research first.

I am not so sure that they missed it.

"You'll notice that we didn't mention an upgraded clutch. That's because there isn't one. The RTR's Nitto NT555 G2 summer tires (sized 275/35ZR-20 up front and 295/35ZR-20 in the back) might be great for sideways slides, but they are a bear to hook up in a straight line, and if you do too many burnouts, that stock clutch will perfume the parking lot with the expensive scent of failure."

I was considering an RTR upgrade on my 2024.5 GT.
Of course I love the RTR Spec 5 but cannot afford it. And while I could be able to afford the Spec 3, I'm not sure I want to go down the path of a supercharger.

Do you think Spec 1 or 2 are worth it?
I'm in Australia and they are priced respectively AU$14k and AU$23K.
not sure what the aussie aftermarket looks like, but 90% of what you get in an RTR can easily be added on later for cheaper, the other 10% is the RTR badge and Vaughns signature

So did RTR give this car an angle kit, race seats, or adjustable coilovers? Since it's setup for drifting and all...

It's also about having the stupidest looking car with a terrible wheel/tire combo

Like I said....I don't expect everyone to get it. If it's not for you then move on. Don't bash what another may like just because you don't get it. Car culture is more than making others happy. It's about having fun in whatever your brung and doing what you like with a car. Drift culture isn't for everyone. That's fine. If you don't like it that's your prerogative. Some of us do.

The car isn't setup for drifting, though. Unless you count having shitty tires.

I get what you’re saying, but RTR themselves talk about putting the power down, cutting lap times, and carving corners more than drifting in the Spec 3 product description on their own webpage.

They mentioned it but they still “missed it” imo. What they wrote is like saying this glazed donut is really sweet, but it’s not salty at all. Like duh that’s the whole point lol.

and the last statement of doing too many burnouts is true for any car in history.

I don’t even like RTR cars or drifting really, but I’m in the camp of thinking the author was disingenuous or incompetent
