One extra thing I did was stick a tinted glass phone screen protector to the screen and stick the suction cups to that. It shades the detector from the sun, disguises it a little, and hasn't moved in months. Sticks like poo to a blanket.

glad you found it useful, the install looks so clean it impresses me every time one of y’all shares! You’ll soon realize how much you despise people who have giant mounts sucking up on their windshield, dangling cables, or both blocking the driver’s view. Cheers
It's funny I found when you mount it under the mirror it blocks the view a lot. I'm tall so that might be part of the problems.

I'm height challenged, and I have my seat low, so it's not a problem for me. I do like that you can turn off the detector display on the V1 Gen2 so there aren't tell tale lights visible from behind.

what is the ideal length of cable to purchase for this mod would ya say?? im seeing a few different options, it would be wonderful to buy the shortest/best length the first go around
Here's the one I got, and it was perfect. There is plenty of space within the housing to push in and tuck away any extra length you don't need -- result is "no slack" and a tidy look.

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to hardwire a radar detector in my 2026 Ford Mustang GT, but I ran into an issue. Most of the install videos and writeups show tapping into the rain sensor power behind the rearview mirror, but my base model doesn’t have the rain-sensing wipers/sensor module up there.

For those of you with the base model or without the rain sensor:

  • What wire/source did you tap into for switched 12V?
  • Is there another connector behind the mirror I can use safely?
  • Or did you end up running it down to the fuse box with an add-a-fuse? If so, which fuse worked best?

Trying to keep the install as clean as possible without cutting into anything I shouldn’t. Any pictures or wiring tips specific to the base model would be appreciated.

Mine doesn't have that 5-pin connector all the tutorials show. Base Ecoboost is most likely why.
But ALL 2024 Mustangs have rain-sensing wipers, so I should have the same power going to a rain sensor amongst all these wires. The question is, where do I insert the tap pins into?

Did you ever figure it out? I'm also trying to mirror tap my radar but I'm having the same problem as you. No rain sensing plug.

We do have a rain sensor up there, the coin battery looking thing on the left side.

I never figured it out, but I believe it's possible because there are products on Amazon that tap into the rain sensor plug for USB and 12V out.
