What is this Battery warning on Ford app??

What the heck is that supposed to mean "soon" your battery "may" not be healthy enough to start your vehicle? That is quite an ambivalent statement if ive ever heard one..LOL definitely get it tested though.

Actually I retract my previous annoyance, this might actually be a good thing if the computer knows that the battery is definitely dieing soon that would give the owner time to get things done with getting a new battery and testing it ect. This is good technology. Right

Yeah, me too. Guess I'm just sick of broken apps and bad updates with all the cloud technology I deal with at work.
I did a battery test and it's 72% life so its bad and should be covered under warranty.
They want me to bring it in but I don't trust dealerships so I'm trying to do the Mobile tech thing

If it gets out of sync with the bms it will display messages incorrectly. By chance did you try charging the battery independently (disconnected from the car) and then resetting the bms?

I read how to reset the BCM for new battery but have not done it on the existing battery.
I did hook my Noco smart charger up around noon yesterday and did another test this morning to see where it's at... what do you think?

I’m not gonna say the numbers don’t look decent (who knows what’s on the other end - not pointing just noticing) but that’s where i’d start. Get ‘your’ numbers, charge, reset bms, get ‘your’ numbers and then monitor according to your established baseline.

"Kris, based on the vehicle health your battery is fine, it's showing 98%. I talked to a technician, we looked at all the info. He thinks what happened is it tried to do an over the air update and for some reason it did not go through.

Sometimes that will trip messages and codes. You can do a reset or disconnect and reconnect the battery. The over the air update will retry but it is not showing a day or time yet."

Two, updates won't work if the battery is below 80%. And it won't give you the message you got. If your battery was 72% thats no Bueno. It could have been an update malfunction, but I personally would have taken the free battery an called it day. Especially if you are going to the trouble to disconnect the battery and trying a reset anyway.

I'm just saying in general, updates are released without testing properly in all different fields these days. Especially in the field I work in .. Motorola releases updates and breaks shit all the time and then we wait months for a fix. humans are the test monkeys rather than dong proper beta testing,
Anyways, after disconnecting the battery like they asked ( which took literally 3 minutes ) the problem came back .
Also my battery tester went from 72% to 88% and back to 72% so its all over the place.
Mobile tech is coming Thursday afternoon with new battery as it may be a bad cell.
I still haven't decided if I want to do a software update as I'm tuned and don't want to reflash.
Thanks for the Mobile tech idea... I do not want to bring my car into the shit show of a dealership I have here locally and risk a mistake by some monkey in there.
they wouldn't just let e exchange batteries unfortunately so I called the dealer I bought it from that's pretty far away and they have been great.

Anything special I should know when replacing battery on these new s650?

You just need to reset the BMS when you install the a new battery. Aside from that, there is no science to it.

Weird , my 15gt had original battery for 6 years.
Mach 1 , almost 4 years
Never had to change one

That all changed with Sync 4. The newer tech is much more demanding on 12v batteries. The only way to truly test the battery's worthiness is by putting it on a machine that tests the cells individually and takes a bit to complete.

Update:
Ford Mobile tech came out and replaced my battery, no charge.
What a pleasant experience . He was on time , and competent .
The error took overnight to go away on my app.
I asked him, any other things he sees on these cars as far as problems I should know about, he said not really, mainly he sees battery issues. He said leave battery tender on all the time . He also mentioned that Battery quality has greatly depreciated since ~2020
