I have my car for 3 quarters of year and drove 12k km and just today I discovered strange things. I know most of you like the rumbling and the louder the better through any spectrum up to your liking. However we all know stock AE produces fake sounds through speakers. Now…

I got used to drive in sport mode in the beginning, later few k’s km in track mode few k’s in normal AE mode and today I got finally good comparison of quiet. My point is, in quiet mode I can drive in traffic within a city or outside and press the accelerator without me feeling like I want to race everyone. I have noticed noticeable difference of other drivers reacting to my acceleration when in quiet mode. Other most important thing is… I can actually hear the engine the way it is made, in its nature and fully for first time today. It is night and day compared to sport or track or normal. The fake sounds through speaker system made me always feel like I do something wrong, or being detached from the reality. In this quiet mode I can actually recognize the very details of engine rpms and the feeling of the engine it self as well as the 10r80 transmission actions during gear changes and all the details driver is unable to recognize during the high set volumes from other modes. That makes me think, how did I judged and behaved to the engine before in those modes vs quiet mode now, is night and day. Does anybody understand my point? I feel like to deactivate the fake noises , since in warranty I am considering to pull the fuse of audio system to try what the AE actually do in regards of audio-hearing-ability for the driver…

It is in all S650 with the B&O sound system from what I understand. It can be disabled with Forscan without needing to kill active exhaust or disconnect the subwoofer.

If you have the B&O sound system (I don't believe lessor systems have it) it has active noise cancelling. The microphones are in the rear of the head liner. They can be unplugged or delete their use by using Forscan®. Do a search here on active sound.

Tragically the convertible doesn’t get the active noise cancellation. But I can say with 100% certainty that the active exhaust makes a profound difference. With the top down on the freeway the speaker sys is barely audible but the difference in exhaust note from quiet to loud is night and day.

Personally I only use quiet mode in the early morning as I leave for work. The rest of the time I am in track mode.

I think I get it. He wants the real mechanical sound of the engine working. Which is fine if you have a great sounding engine aka 6's 8's 10's and 12's. Most sound great, but most modern exhaust notes sound crap. I think a great sounding engine is one where you can tell what it is. Not the vacuum noise so many cars make now.

......yes and you can FEEL the 5.0 Coyote through your driver's seat when at a light.
Yes! That is amazing feeling. The V8 is just amazing engine. I am going to disable the active noise cancelation.

Thank you. I will do so.

This is the thread you need 😉 https://www.mustang7g.com/forums/threads/disabling-anc-and-ese-via-forscan-25-full-steps.168802/

I can confirm it will make the difference you are looking for, and I totally understand what you mean!

Is noise cancelling the same thing as the topic of this thread?

Noise cancelling typically would make it quieter in the cabin by cancelling unwanted noises. I have noise cancelling headphones when I am working out, and it drowns out all of the outside sounds, even when persons try to speak to me.

AE, ANC & ESE are all different things that all work differently.

I'll suggest, based on my personal experience, that all you need to do is code out the ESE. Doing so will not affect or void your warranty.

Ahhh ok. So I can do so in Forscan, and not having warranty voided? I did not know that!
I went through the thread linked by Dark Sprite here. Looks straight forward. Are you sure I can make changes in Forscan not voiding warranty? Then I go ahead and cannot wait to kill that ESE. So ANC can be left alone?

I find it odd that nobody has posted a GT or Dark Horse video before and after comparison of ESE and no ESE.
The effect is probably only noticeable with the windows closed and barely getting into the throttle. I can’t imagine it’s much of an effect at all If any that can be detected by a normal cell phone microphone.
