Before you sell, try to contact your lender, they may be willing to defer your payments for 2-3 months, so you can find another job.
I'm sorry to read that. That sucks. The message reads wonderfully calm given the circumstances. Maybe acceptance rather than calm.
Thanks for the overwhelming support guys.

Regarding contacting the lender, that was an option. But with the equity we're getting out of the TRX and the Mustang, I should be able to buy a one to two year old non-TRX 1/2 ton truck outright, and we (my wife and I) think thats the best option in case the job search takes forever. It'll also be nice to be debt free (except for the mortgage), which we've never been before, so we're going to try it.

Yes, I am honestly feeling more relief than anything. First, the entire building was upset I was the one that was cut, which was nice to see how many people had my back. Second, as this relief/calm isn't going away, I am wondering if I didn't like the job as much as I thought I did.

So this morning I replied through bleary, allergy-crusty eyes, and a few hours later... It sucks. The way this happened. Another poster explained that they went through a similar experience but had lots of notice. I had notice when this happened to me and in some respects it was easier but in others, it might have been worse. Being able to plan for being broke isn't fun.

Context: British chap emigrated into the US in 2017.

At-will employment is still a strange one for me. It isn't like that in the UK but ultimately, the result at the end of it is the same.

The story of "How I Met My Mustang" is too long for here, but I've wanted a Mustang since I was, well, into cars. Decades before they were officially available in the UK in 2015. I wasn't going to get one any time soon, but a high voltage cable falling onto my Fusion and wrecking, like, all of it changed things. Six months ago the Mustang would be a weekend GT convertible pipe dream and today it's a fastback EcoBoost everyday drive. I guess what I'm trying to say, with way more words than others have said, is sometimes... bad news is in reality good news.

Also, being all coy-like, so, you know, I don't think you technically have to own a seventh generation Mustang to hang out in the forums. You could stick around. I mean, they even let us EcoBoost guys loiter, which in some quarters is worse than owning a Camaro, worse than riding a bike, lol.

worse than riding a bike, lol.
If you mean one with pedals...absolutely.
But ones with real engines and other worldly acceleration, nope.
I may not still ride, but I'll always know that sheer adrenaline buzz on a fast bike.

I can't begin to imagine what you must feel like. I'm so sorry. I was so very blessed to work at the same place for 37 years. I've said it many, many times in my 77+ years. Sometimes these things are disguised as blessings. Hang in there and good luck.

OP that's a tough road to have to take and I'm sorry you and your family are having to navigate it.
There will ALWAYS be cars to buy and other Mustangs to own.... They get into your blood.
Best wishes and I hope your future endeavors are blessed!!!

They did provide a little bit of severance, but not much, so we're having to make some drastic changes fairly quickly to rebalance the budget, and one of those is selling the Mustang,

You do not need me to tell you, but you are absolutely doing the right thing.

Yes, hang out and chat! Discussion is the heart of this site. You'll get through this and may well be in a Dark Horse SC before long!
