Yep. This is why I've said Ford's smart for ditching Shelby for Multimatic. Your options are a company that does the most basic half-assed shit, or the world leaders for the most innovative and badass performance cars. Ford made the right call.
Shelby American had nothing to do with the Ford cars

The GTD was probably in development before any S650 Shelby American variant. Plus it looks better than any product those guys have put out. The front of the cars looking nothing alike.
The GTD looks like an S650 with allergic reaction. Which one was available first for the public to buy?

Ignoring the crazy price 3-4x the premium GT, but it's a beautiful car all around to have fun at track if you have money in excess.

Exactly, yet another reason why Ford ditching the Shelby branding is no big deal imo. All the best Shelby models were never Shelby to begin with. Things like the gt 500 or 350 had nothing to do with shelby beyond the branding.

Shelby American and Ford are both doing the same thing. Recycling the same products but giving them new names and over charging for them 🤣

Speaking of Carroll Shelby the man... He lived as long as he did because he was fortunate (or rich) enough to receive a new heart. Perhaps his remaining heirs need the same type of transplant?

...If you get my drift?

Actually look at the specs. This is actually a track car. If you’re paying this kind of money for things like a roll bar and track brakes I’d bet it will be tracked.

Has anyone in the last decades ever heard anything regarding viable and impressive track times by Shelby America or their cars? I haven’t and I assume it’s 90% show and marketing. If I want a serious track car I would go somewhere else. If I wanted a heritage name and the illusion of a capable track car I would go to them…

It’s a garage/museum piece. Can’t imagine anyone spending this kind of money on a Mustang with a roll bar and track brakes to take it to the track. There are so many better options for track toys at - and less than - this price point.

Well then I guess you’ve never met a GTD, Porsche GT2/3, or ZR1 owner. Or anyone that tracks their $200k+ toy. For these folks money is not an impediment. They’ve got the bucks and I’m sure there are enough of them to keep Shelby in business.
