In Germany, big trucks are limited to 100 kmh in most locations (62 miles per hour) where there is no speed limit for passenger cars.

Driving to the right still works.

Obviously, if you are 150 kph (93 mph), you are not going to be dangerously darting in and out of the right hand lane every time there is a twenty meter opening, but the cars driving at 150 kph will still, when the right hand lane opens, move over to the right, even if they can see a truck one kilometer ahead driving 100 kph.

It works, because everybody is following the same rules.

Even when it is two lanes, the only persons staying the left lane are those doing extreme high speed runs, because it just is not safe to switch lanes when you are doing 323 kph, and nobody is going to pass you. Nobody. That person, however, is going to need to watch the left hand lane ahead very carefully, because even though drivers in Germany only go left actively to pass somebody, even doing 150 kph to pass a truck, which is actively passing, doing 50% faster than the truck, takes a lot of time compared to the closing speed at 323 kph. Even in Germany you cannot maintain that kind of speed very long.

Speeds like 200 kph can be maintained for very long periods of time, however, and the Germans who are driving at less speed will do everything that they possibly can to stay out of your way.

USA is just not like that.

I would be in favor of a lower speed for tractor trailers in the US.

I would be in favor of higher speed limits for passenger cars in the US, with perhaps eliminating it in many areas (since you are in Georgia, think I-16 between Macon and Savannah).

I would be in favor of extreme punishments for brake checking and other such behavior, and stricter laws regarding driving to the right when not actively passing. If you are to the left of a motor vehicle to the right for a mile, then you are not actively passing that vehicle.
Don't know about today it's been so long since I've been to Texas but the state used to have a 65 mph speed limit for trucks and a 70mph speed limit for cars. It worked quite well. I would guess it's different now given the size of the trucking lobby.

Probably in many places, there seem to be clusters of cars traveling together. I like getting into position between two groups and using cruise control to isolate myself between the two groups. The second group always seems to eventually catch up, and when I sense they are about to overtake me, I work my way through the first group and get in a position to do it all over again! I'm not big on traveling within a group. As others said, there are too many idiots on the road. Glenn
We have a lot of that. One idiot is doing 15 - 20 kmh under the limit, the next two or three are too incapable/scared to overtake, and you end up with a convoy of pissed off drivers.
Then, all too often, someone makes the wrong move and you have a head on fatal.
This is why I love the rolling acceleration of the Mustang.

Well, good for you for riding any, at all, in your 70s! I quit riding in my late 50s.

I love your Triumph!

Like others in GA, I researched this in NC, it's not against the law.

Since I retired, I try to take it easy, I'm not in a hurry, just chill. That helps a lot when dealing with all of these morons out there.

I have owned just about every muscle car over my life gotta say, I have experienced this mostly with my Corvettes and usually from Ram pickup drivers - don't ask me why - but it's almost as if they want to race thinking they can actually win -

I had a guy in a Ram 6.2 Hemi decide he didn't like an Explorer passing him. Little did he know I had built a stroker 347 with a Ford Performance roller cam, Crane Roller rockers, 4.30 gears, and long tube headers. You'd think the lumpy idle would tip them off! Explorer 5 liter engines had the same heads and intake as the '93 Cobra Mustangs. That thing chirped all 4 275/50R-17 tires on 17x9 Cobra R rims on the 1-2 shift.

But lining up against a C6 or C7 with a Ram? Power to weight should be more than a big red flag.

I‘ve had my Dark Horse with the handling package for only a couple of months. With the cold temperatures, the rain and the snow here in Pennsylvania, the break-in process has been going slowly and I’ve only been able to put in ~350 miles. So far. in the few times I’ve taken it out, i’ve been gentle, keeping the RPMs below 4000, but still driving reasonably at the pace of traffic. But still, I‘ve found myself tailed by aggressive drivers who come right up to my rear bumper, almost bumping me, even when there is nowhere to go because of traffic. One time, after tailing me bumper to bumper, a Ford F-250 passed me aggressively on the right. Another time, a Volkswagen SUV that was also following me bumper to bumper went into the oncoming lane to pass me and the two cars in front of me while we were at a red light. On another occasion, another SUV pulled the same stuff, after following me aggressively, he gunned his engine and switched lanes to pass me on the right after I had signaled that I was merging into the right lane, almost causing a collision.. But it hasn’t been all negative. Several times I’ve gotten thumbs up and “nice car dude”, but in the few times I’ve taken it out, I‘ve definitely gotten some hostile vibes. Have any other Dark Horse owners out there gotten similar vibes?
Are you hanging out in the passing lane normally? :p

In my area, Hellcats won't bow up to me. Corvettes ignore me even if I lay rubber next to them to start a fight. Imports leave me alone. With the exception of the occasional Mustang or Camaro jumping me, you know who comes out of no where to waste my time with a slowpoke challenge? RAM pickup trucks! More often than any other car type that wants to race. Who's lying to these Dodge owners en masse???

100% Ram truck drivers are the absolute worst. Always driving aggressive and being A-holes.

That!
I was cruising, top down with my son and had one on my bumper surging and revving. There was traffic in front of us and neither of us were going anywhere. Separate incident, one doing the same in a narrow 20mph neighborhood.
I am no angel, but they just act stupidly.

FL. You have not driven in S. FL of late, then you are blessed. Beyond the people who are driving with nothing but crazy, will hit you, run you off the road, cause a 7-car pile-up, and will get out of the car, run across traffic, causing another accident, and disappear.

Then, of course, that leaves us with the literal Fast and Furious crowd. These are the ones doing 120+ down 95....in cars that can actually do it. Ferarries, Porsches, Lambos, any number of Hellcats, Cameros, and yes Mustangs. That is, before you get to the hyped up Hondas, GTRs, and various other JDMs, you did not know existed.

Then, of course, you have the bikes. Enough said.

This was one of the reasons I sold my GT500.......I grew tired of the crazies that would pull up and try to "run" the GT500 with cars that should not even be on the road in the first place. I readily admit that was an error on my part (selling the GT500), and now, lol, I have an even more aggressive-looking vehicle that is sure to garner that attention. Oh well....

S.FL, crazy traffic at most any time during the day, a virtual race track at night. Welcome to Miami.

Now I have a S650 GT that I drive everywhere I go and I haven’t had anybody on my ass. I had my dark horse out for the first time this year a couple weekends ago and two different times some dude right against my back bumper. And they make an effort to catch up and get there.

I did dust a hemi wrangler with 37s that thought he’d show his wife how could bust a mustang 😃. And I shifted below 6000.

It's not road rage, but I had a kid in a Peugeot hot hatch try to keep up on a road trip earlier this year. He did a pretty good job of it. I wasn't going flat out, but the way the Mustand overtakes makes it hard for less powerful cars to keep up.
Most amusing.

Funny, just saw this thread. Today, minding my own business and someone in a 24 Tundra tries to pass me on the right-hand side. It was pretty funny and nope he did not pass
