I've watched this thread for a while, knowing full well the GT would get most of the votes. Now, however, I wonder what the vote would be for a new buyer if the Ford Performance Tune was a factory option. I suspect if it was, a lot more Eco-Boosts would be sold, especially so if we're talking daily driver!

Maybe, maybe not. I would not have bought the 4, even if one was available.
A V8 Mustang is a true automotive icon. And, as I found out, a bloody good car.

Only here .... Before buying my Ecoboost, I drove both the EcoBoost and GT Mustang versions. I visited and talked with Mustang owners at three different Mustang club show events and NOT one, during many one on one (face to face) conversations, remotely suggested that an Ecobosst was a lesser car, or NOT a "real" Mustang, or that you would lose the "mine's bigger than yours" contest if It didn't have as V-8 and a fender emblem. LOL LOL LOL ..... Only HERE! Anyways, yours IS bigger than mine. All I wanted was an American made convertible (to fill an empty spot in my garage) and this was IT. I would have bought it with half the HP. (my mid eighty's Turbo Bird had a 2.3L - 160HP I-4, 4 spd, and it was fine and fun to drive) The satisfaction I get after a spirited "top down" drive in the country, is exactly what I was looking for. I still have a Godzilla V-8 in my garage, when I feel the need for a little "mines bigger than yours" trash talk. My 300+ HP Lexus PHEV will "silently" smoke all four tires on dry pavement and the "instant' torque to all four wheels is ..... well ya drive one. Only on THIS forum are Ecoboost Mustang owners, not a part of the Mustang owners fraternity ... LOL

If you judge Ecoboost objectively, isolated from any pre-conceptions of what a Mustang/muscle car "should be", just purely as a RWD +LSD coupe making X power for Y dollars, it's an unbeatable value in the car market.

Had a '24 Ecoboost, now a '25 GT, considering "downgrading" to a '26 Ecoboost or the upcoming RTR Ecoboost. For those who care about costs, GT is ~1.5x the initial price and ~1.5x the fuel costs of Ecoboost.

If you care about handling and nimble feeling, Ecoboost is better. At least at the base level, not including GT Performance Pack or Dark Horse. Ecoboost feels more chuckable, more precise, and more responsive off-the-line due to turbo low-end torque. GT has embarrassingly weak low-end. Even housewives in their SUVs/CUVs are impulsively blasting off the line to the next red light, so if you're just driving chill and not trying to rev-bomb the neighborhood, GT doesn't feel faster around town (feels slower IMO). Sure, GT is faster if you full-throttle on a sticky racetrack, but in daily driving, you don't feel faster until you're on the freeway. From 60-80-100+, GT just pulls relentlessly while Ecoboost fades out.

I don't think anyone has said they are not Mustangs.
They are much more a Mustang than some 4 door EV.
People are free to buy whatever they want, but we also free to state our preferences.
No slight or offence intended.

I had both cars, and eco was awesome, but with tune omg next level awesome. Only thing i rly wanted was the sound of gt so i got it. And honestly for daily driving in the city if gt sounded the same as eco i would probably think twice if i would make a switch.

How often do you fuel up the GT compared to the EcoBoost?

My wife only test-drove a GT and fell in love with the sound. I felt she'd be fine with the Ecoboost as it has more power than she's ever had in a car/minivan. I've only owned V8 RWD cars so I was pleasantly surprised that she insisted on ordering the GT. :)

Never considered an Eco. I won't own a turbo until I have to and a V8 in a Mustang is a great thing. I can easily get 22 to 23 mpg in a mix of town and highway while still getting on it now and then. When I ordered my Mustang, I did it with the intent of not worrying about fuel consumption and I don't. It gets better mileage than a pick up truck and much better than I thought it would. That said, a little over 300 hp in a Mustang is pretty spunky.

I wasn’t worried about mpg in eco and im not worried now with gt. But to be honest eco with tune (350hp) felt as fast as gt around the city.

I wanted a Dark Horse with the handling package, and, well, that is what I bought.

I would like to drive an Ecoboost, though. Frankly, judging by the numbers and a few track videos I watched, it looks like a neat car.

And I think I posted elsewhere that the Ecoboost would have smoked every old muscle car that I owned back in the day. It runs a 13.7 quarter mile. The fastest car in my high school parking lot ran that, and we all thought he was the hero and aspired to be him, lol.

Google shows:

Typical Tuned Quarter-Mile Times & Performance:
  • Basic Tune (e.g., Cobb Stage 1/PH1): Around 13.2 - 13.5 seconds at 104-107 mph with 91/93 octane fuel, improving on stock times significantly.
  • With Upgraded Intercooler & Exhaust: Times drop further, with some hitting the 12.9-second range or better in good conditions.
  • Aggressive Tuning (Protune/Fueling): Can push times into the high 12s, nearing 12.6 seconds at higher trap speeds.
This video shows a tuned EcoBoost Mustang achieving 12-second quarter-mile times:
