That’s what they all say. But it will.

Had a comprehensive claim for hail and a windshield in 2022… next renewal my insurance doubled.

800 Credit; No accidents or tickets.

it WILL go up. Any excuse will trigger it.
Everyone’s insurance increased 50-100% in 2022. You can thank the used car mania for that. Had nothing to do with your glass claim.

It may be in my head, but I swear the Mustang glass is among the softer/less resilient windshield glass I've owned.
Oh yeah? I got a 6" crack in the upper left/center of my Raptor windshield by a bird strike.
WHILE PARKED.

The 2nd one I saw; a Jeep sporting BFG KO2's - like the Rap, and many other trucks, threw up a rock and hit that windshield HARD. Not surprised it cracked, was surprised it didn't spiderweb crack. We were doing... maybe 40, traffic was not light

You can say that all you want - we have friends in the Insurance industry. It absolutely will, unless prohibited by law.
THIS.

They will drop you or raise your rates if you cost them money and they see you as a potential for costing them more money.

years ago I had a friend who filed several comp claims within a year and they were not insignificant. After I think the 4th one, they cancelled the policy.

I know Progressive said my rates were high due to a windshield replacement, a windshield chip filled, and a passenger window replaced due to a break in over the course of 7 years. Progressive told me a claim is a claim, regardless if it’s just for the glass 🤷🏻‍♂️

I didn't used to think this way but the insurance industry and others make me believe it is just another excuse to make more money. The other term for it is: GREED.

Or, inflation skyrocketing (thanks “Brandon”)
And, Covid disruption of supply lines (thanks China)
And, increased health care premiums for companies (thanks Obama)
And, increased repair costs due to illegal immigrants without insurance (thanks every country in the world & Dems)
Just sayin’

It's not just that, it's the same companies covering stupid risks. Like... Beachfront homes on the outer banks that get wiped out to sea in a tropical storm or hurricane. Covered, rebuild, covered some more. Or on the banks of the Mississippi river in flood zones, or Florida or San Fran for buildings that will ultimately collapse when the big one hits. I do genuinely feel bad for people when disaster strikes, but I stop feeling bad for them when they rebuild in the same spot, expecting a different outcome.

Correct. Glass coverage means you don't have a deductible for replacement. It doesn't mean the replacement isn't considered a claim on your policy. You get enough of them, and your rates will go up. And they track ALL of your claim history.

By that logic, people shouldn't build houses in tornado alley either.

Call me funny, but I think if you pay good money for insurance, you shouldn't get your policy canceled for using it.

Car insurance. Bit of a Pet Peeve with Wiley! 🤬 ing Insurance Companies!

Haven't had a ticket since 2009 (50 in a 45 zone---some real 5 star GTA grade ****). Last claim was 2019 (other driver ticketed as "at fault").

2023 Insurance Company; who I'd had since 2007; raised my rate 15% (yea, I know, many of you have worse insurance horror stories). So, I call my agent up and pitch a polite bitch about it. The guy flat out tells me it's because "they" had a bad year with all the fires/lands slides 'n **** in CA and all the storm damage in FL. WTF??!!

YOU'RE the insurance company NOT me? You never share your profits from the good years with me, so why are you making me absorb your losses during a bad year? This system LEGALLY allows the insurance industry to effectively make us absorb most, if not, all of it's risk. Let me repeat; WTF??!!

I jumped ship to a different company and got a 30% lower premium. 🖕

I know you'll be shocked; shocked I say! 😉 To hear; that our good buddies in the insurance industry were the number three influence buying......................eeerrr, I mean "lobbying" industry in 2024.

I totaled my 2006 Honda Sportbike, and someone made me total my 2007 Ford GT. No insurance rate increases. I felt somewhat grateful.

Never in my life have I had a chipped windshield! This happened randomly tonight on the freeway with no truck or construction vehicle in front of me. It's about the size of a penny.

Going to try to go through Safelite, but if it's still visible I may replace through Ford.

Thoughts on going through insurance? The repair will be free but I will have to pay the $500 for a replacement and I would only replace OEM through Ford. I'm worried that my premium will go up now that Id have a claim on my record.

Just get the crack fixed if it's not in direct view.

Well gents, avoid repairing your windshield through Safelite. Look at this garbage and now I have a one inch crack in the windshield. I guess it's time to replace it!

Safelite sucks. That's a terrible chip repair.
