Great to see all of these pics of the recall. Scheduled to get mine done in 2 weeks.
Going back to same dealer body shop that did excellent work on fixing rocker panel damaged due to hitting a dead animal on the road.

Interesting thing to note is I got my windshield replaced as well with a factory replacement and ever since then I have not gotten the rearview mirror rattle/shake/noise at all, at any speed. So to me that issue was related to the factory and how they installed the windshield or main camera/rearview mirror assembly.

I received my letter from Ford a few days ago indicating parts were available.

The dealer I bought the car from said:
3-5 days to diagnose. If repairs were needed parts would need to be ordered and said he could not tell me how long it would take to get then when I asked. days? weeks? months? He would not allow me to pick the car up and return it when parts arrived if it was going to take a long time.
I asked Why, if the parts are in stock at according to Ford, he could not give me even at estimate on time to get them. He said he just couldn't tell me the time.

Another dealer said he would allow me to pick it up if parts took a long time to arrive. It was not a manager I spoke to so I will try to re-confirm with the service manager.

A 3rd dealer said no parts were available at all so no fix is available yet.

I spoke to a Ford customer relations person who really couldn't quite get a grasp of the situation at all.

So .....
Has anyone had to deal with not being able to get their car back when parts were not available?
Is it even legal for them to refuse to return your car?

It's crazy none of the dealers in Austin relay the same information. With 3 different stories from 3 different dealers I just don't know who to believe.
My god what a clown show. Stay away from all those dealers for anything.

The 2nd dealer sounds the least awful option, though....

"Parts"....its a friggin tube of caulk.

Dear lord. Was there clown music playing during this conversation? 3-5 days to diagnose a recall...? And they want to keep your car? I don't even know where to start here. Other than grab your keys are get the hell away from that dealer as fast as you can. 🤦‍♂️
It is crazy -
I've never been given the run-around like this before. I may just not take in in at all. I don't really trust any of them at this point. Those are the only Ford dealerships in my area (I think). I'll look again.

I know - it's insane here. I was told by one some required windshield replacements. I'm not sure how that can be given what I've seen the 'fix' involves.

It still sounds like some dealers are trying to figure this out. Best to wait a while longer for all the morons to catch up.

Just crazy responses from some dealers! I guess they don’t sell many Mustangs so are not having many on hold until they get the procedure. I was lucky that my dealer sells quite a few, so the technician had completed the recall on several cars before the did mine.

I think the only time they have to replace the windshield is if they break it prying it up to check the seal, which is part of the inspection. But I think some dealers don't risk it.

I have yet to read of a windshield being broken or needing replacement, but not everybody who has a Mustang posts here.

Either way, the stuff your dealers are saying sounds odd.😳

I think some dealers don't want to do this fix. Just like when you bring your car in for warranty work they tell you it will be weeks to get it done when its something you know not complicated.

The dealer near me is having their body shop do it, and I know their work is excellent b/c I recently had work done by them.
Told me 1-2 days max, and that they only do one recall a week....of course that could be dealer dependant.

Some dealers!🤮. I’m very lucky. Of course if dealers have Mustangs covered by recall that they want to sell or deliver they have to do the recall fix. My dealer had to do quite a few so the technician had good practice when she did mine.

I had bad luck so far with three dealers. First one gave me the car back after a day saying parts were not available. Meaning the sealant. The second one, I called and told them what I need and what the first dealer told me and they said bring it in we have the parts. At check in they said no sealant is available so I did not leave my car. The third dealer said to leave the car for a few days and we will let you know if parts are available. Obviously I will not leave a 100% working car for several days for some sealant work 3 hours and a BCM terminals inspection for 1/2 hour.
Maybe most dealers are used to make money from air filter and cabin filter changes and they do not care to service the cars Ford authorized them and trained them to do.

Wow, so many examples of awful dealer service. ugh.
It's really obvious that many dealers still aren't up to date on this recall and are either not yet trained or unwilling to do it. Theres no need to rush this one fellas. Give it a few months.

My dealer is telling me they cannot provide courtesy a car to my while its being fixed. But they provide one for warranty work? They seem very confused. Its my daily driver, have to have a car since they are keeping it a couple days minimum.
