Yes, exactly. I agree 100%.Just for giggles I played around with my shifter today in my garage.
When shifting from park I can confirm you simply press the shifter button down once, RELEASE IT, then pull the lever back. It will stop in drive AND LOCK there very time. Once in drive you need to press the shifter button again to go farther back to M.
Only If you keep holding the shifter button down when shifting out of park or reverse, will go all the way back to M. And if you do that, its user error, not a design flaw.
So I think its great if you like the aftermarket knobs better. Just pointing out that correct operation doesnt require a parts replacement.
Personally….I’m just trying to untrain myself of a 17 year routine with my old shifter.
The Billetworkz shifter requires knuckling down on a collar on the shifter stalk. My theory is that because that mechanism is different enough that I’ll depress it only enough to get out of Park as opposed to leaving my thumb depressed on top of the stock shifter longer than I need to.
I never said the stock shifter is a bad mechanism, I’m just trying to break my habit.
I just got my knob today after waiting a month, because of vacations and order errors, and am installing it today. Whether I like the new mechanism has yet TBD.
But damn the shifter knob looks cool! Black gloss with white GT engraved on top.
Will post pics later.
