Just for giggles I played around with my shifter today in my garage.

When shifting from park I can confirm you simply press the shifter button down once, RELEASE IT, then pull the lever back. It will stop in drive AND LOCK there very time. Once in drive you need to press the shifter button again to go farther back to M.

Only If you keep holding the shifter button down when shifting out of park or reverse, will go all the way back to M. And if you do that, its user error, not a design flaw.

So I think its great if you like the aftermarket knobs better. Just pointing out that correct operation doesnt require a parts replacement.
Yes, exactly. I agree 100%.

Personally….I’m just trying to untrain myself of a 17 year routine with my old shifter.

The Billetworkz shifter requires knuckling down on a collar on the shifter stalk. My theory is that because that mechanism is different enough that I’ll depress it only enough to get out of Park as opposed to leaving my thumb depressed on top of the stock shifter longer than I need to.

I never said the stock shifter is a bad mechanism, I’m just trying to break my habit.

I just got my knob today after waiting a month, because of vacations and order errors, and am installing it today. Whether I like the new mechanism has yet TBD. 🤔

But damn the shifter knob looks cool! Black gloss with white GT engraved on top.

Will post pics later.

Well, I installed it. super easy!! Just have a quality trim removal piece for the two shifter gate covers...they both just pry up with clips. Without the car running, put it in Drive so you can get a screwdriver into the front of the stalk and remove the two Phillips screws, Pull up the stock shifter, and flip upside down to take off the collar that holds the leather boot on. it just pries off and the boot is glued to it. Set new shifter stalk in, ziptie the boot around it with included zip tie, flip over and secure to the stalk with the 4 set screws. Make sure the new lock-out collar is ever so lightly resting on top the lock out lever!!! use a gentle feel. Then just snap the two covers back down.

The Billetworkz video is the best. I’ve seen 12 minute long videos of removal/installation, that were made by idiots….don’t follow those, they show removal of things that don’t have to be removed.

OK, on to my review…. Friggin LOVE IT! Pushing down on the lock-out collar is very intuitive, and I got used to it instantly! I can now grab the top of the knob without accidentally pushing down the lever as in the OEM knob. IMO the lock-out mechanism is much more user friendly just for taking the lever away from the top of the knob And putting it underneath.

I also have a brushed silver knob to switch out for giggles…

I highly recommend!👍

Duly noted! The silver knob has a nice contrast though. The black knob kind of gets lost.

No matter…I can swap them out in 3 seconds. They just unscrew from the top. The important part was lining up the GT logo, so I needed to install that one first.

I like that shifter and the GT really sets it off. I am planning to do the same with the red shifter. Anyway, yours looks great! Glenn

The trigger is cool. But I can still see myself hanging my finger on it while pulling it back past where I want to.

So far really lovin my collar release mechanism. Knuckle it down and then just grab the top of the knob to pull back and lock before hitting Manual.

It really eliminated my error margin.

After I've lived with it for a little bit, I'll let you know if I have that issue.

Looks good! I just ordered 2 more knobs during their sale. On their main page, non-custom selection of knobs are on sale for $89 plus the 10% off. I got a cosmic blue and also a gloss black with silver splash. So I have a total of 5 knobs…yikes! I ordered a case to put them all in so I can put it behind my seat for quick swaps.

BTW: If ordering extra knobs and you don’t need the adapter, they told me to order from the 2015+ manual shifter page.
